“Eclipse (All Yours)” was the first single from the soundtrack, and is a great one for Metric. Sentimental and sappy, but sellout? It's no “Sick Muse” or "Empty" among many others, but it's a lovely song. Muse has basically become the soundtrack house band as they are featured in every soundtrack, and this is the first track made special for the soundtrack “Neutron Star Collision (Love Is Forever),” but it’s nothing special; a typical muse track. It's good, but nothing different here. I Do like the positive vibes of “Ours” as well as the return of some synths and the driving beat. Florence and the Machine can make hauntingly beautiful songs made for movies like this that make me "Heavy in Your Arms;" with its romanticism and sound it is a perfect match for the Twilight series. I confess “My Love” of Sia’s voice; that was bad, but the song is not. Fanfarlo use an “Atlas” to guide them through the country with strumming that may resemble reggae towards the end. The Black Keys want to “Chop and Change” their sound, but if it isn’t broke why fix it? With bluesy funk and soulful backing vocals, Dan Auerbach sounds even better than he already does. Dead Weather may be “Rolling In On a Burning Tire,” but this tire burns in slow motion as both White and Mossheart sing alongside the distortion fadin in and out giving them space. “Let’s Get Lost” with Beck and Bat for Lashes as they sing in this spacey faux-hop track. “Jonathan Low” is a nice inclusion from Vampire Weekend but sounds a little mainstream, and then it breaks into these bombastic sounding instrumentals and afro-pop the second half of the track. ”With You In My Head” UNKLE and The Black Angels sound like they should make more music together. The Eastern Conference Champions have us running “A Million Miles An Hour,” or is it just Jacob’s heart that feels like it’s beating a million miles an hour? “Life On Earth” is many things, but it is not boring like this song. I am kidding, it is a nice mellow song with that laidback strumming and spacey arrangement with vocals coming from the clouds. A contemplation, lay on the grass and smile at the sky , while saying “Life is good” kinda song.Cee-lo Green Contributes “What Part of Forever,” which had me say what? The song does fit pretty nicely in the soundtrack, even if it’s different than most of the other stuff on the soundtrack with it’s whistling lead-in and touch of soul. The vocals are also a change of pace, and adds more variety with a nice catchy chorus too.The final song is “Jacob’s Theme’ which features piano and the teardrops that fall as he sees what they had between them, and what could have been, before He returned, but he’s not too mad. seven songs that eclipse the rest are: Ours, Heavy in Your Arms, Rolling in a Burning Tire, Chop and Change, Jonathan Low, Life On Earth, and What Part of Forever.
