Broken Bells "S/T"

Are James Mercer and Brian Burton the new “Odd Couple?” One would think so, but listening to the music they create a nice balance between both styles of music. What is that that makes “The High Road” so hard to find? The great intro, acoustic strumming, and other instrumentals might make taking that specific path easier. Does the Rhodes also “Vaporize” or did it fry my brain before I was able to write this. You’re probably right, it has some nice horn toward the end guiding you home as this. Oh My Gossh! “Your Head is On Fire!” It starts with maracas? And the stop cues acoustic guitar and handclap with piano. I love “The Ghost Inside,” and its bittersweet hook as Mercer sings in a falsetto? With this catchy beat before we get to the synth and hand-clap/hihat. I am “Sailing To Nowhere” has this great intro, and soaring stings, horns, and nice piano. Hey I didn’t know there were “Trap Doors” on this ship, or that the beat ticks like a clock and this moog is made of strings. “Citizen” has cute harmonies, piano and bass  I love “October” because by then fall is in full effect and we get to start to see the changing color of the leaves. The song, oh you thought I meant the song, did you not? Oh yes, that piano is nice and it has a sing-along chorus too love the instrumentals of “Mongrel Heart” as well as the change after that distort hits. You can hear spaghetti western-style horns and organ around three minutes before going back to the keys.” looking back on that time/ Starting in the minds/What it is to be twenty nine/Fame sets your life down/Would it be wrong/Would it be wrong/To disappoint you now/Disappoint you now” Oriental flourishes before it goes into the catchy surf-rock riff and tipatap beat. Use your intuition /It's all you've got/Keys are rare/And there's a dozen locks /Standing in your way/So goes the gold age/To your entire life” If I Had To fix five bells(ever so slightly): Vaporize, Your Head Is On Fire, Sailing To Nowhere, Trap Doors, and Citizen.                                                                                   .
