Tunde Adebimpe provides guest vocals on "Praying for Rain" which starts with a bass and piano brooder that takes a breath after 2:20 and hits its stride with a different tempo and beat, and then at 5:30 it goes back to an even darker vibe. "Was it how she kissed you and then dismissed you/Was it purposeful and was it just to hook you in" sings Martina Topley Bird in this song of how love can mess with one's mind and maybe even make them "Babel." This is a slow song with handclaps keeping time featuring the low and quiet voice of Horace Andy that may have you "Splitting The Atom" on this Damon Albarn produced track. "Girl I Love You" has those ominous horns and addictive beat, and the final minute; as for the lyric's message it's about wanting to be with this girl forever, and she promises not to let him down, but he can't tell if she isn't just lying because of her actions. There is something about these reverberating notes and Topley-Bird's vocals that just wrap around my "Psyche." The next song has some bloops and laidback beat as Guy Garvey sings "I'm not good in a crowd/I got skills I can't speak of" which later is joined by some horns. This song is about a soldier back from the war? or someone like Crocodile Dundee? I will say that for it's minimalistic properties "Paradise Circus" has some nice piano at the end. "Rush Minute" is about wanting to become clean, but not losing the feeling of being high that will be gone after Hope finishes singing her last note. "Saturday Come Slow" for most of us, and I think someone is waiting for Saturday to see his lover, and it's taking too long as Albarn sings in this song he helped write. In "Atlas Air" there is "Nothing to lose but my chains /Internet beats on my brains /Head in the sand, feet in the clay /A place to piss, a place to pray." It is downright funky mellow, the beat runs the show, and Del Naja hosts it with some assistance from keys. If I Had To Choose 5 songs I Would choose: Praying For Rain, Girl I Love You, Psyche, Saturday Become Slow, and Atlas Air.
