Inception was f----in amazin!!!!!! Or at least that’s what I had heard, because I have not seen it yet. Ever have one of those states of mind, of the “Half Remebered Dream,” kind? Well the start is only 1:13 and has this low horn; you are ready to hear more, but then it finishes like that. “We Built Our Own World” on perseverance, strength, tenacity, wisdom, courage, and many other characteristics, but Zimmer builds it on cloud spanning strings, fading in and out, and inclusion of a timp toward the end. Constructors who build dreams are not always aware of what terror they had wrought on themselves until the morning, or never remember, but live through the same terror every night. “This Dream is Colapsing” brings out a sinking ship with those brassy horns and powerful strings, however not durable enough to hold up that collapsing building, I Have a” Radical Notion” that there is nothing special about this…wait a second. That urgency that I hear is coming close, someone’s shadow is right…Gasp! “Old Souls” don’t have to be old in age, they can be reborn again, and just appear younger, but with a chance to fix their life to the way they had wanted it the first time. There is not much going on, the occasional swooping of the horned bat, and the rain commanding strings; it is a very lowkey-and somber number made for thinking, and for feeling blue…Do I hear a train coming? It’s coming in faster and faster as the curiosity builds until it just pitters to a stop, and a piece of paper falls out from the sky, but what can it mean? All I see is “528491” on the paper, but what does it mean?! These strings are striking a realization into me unbeknownst to myself, all I start to think after those elephant like horns is “Mombassa” with its machine gun percussion and the need to have those strings soar in those high-octane danger ahead sequences while riding a helicopter ,no doubt, or falling out of one. It almost makes me think of a trance song played by orchestra if one is not paying attention. I’t funny how “One Simple Idea” can lead to something much more important and bigger than the person who thought of it, or that a “Dream Within A Dream” would be remembered easier than the first gen itself. The tension builds and drops round two minutes only to do so again about a half-minute later; Uh oh! This bird is must have broken a wing because he tries to take flight, goes, but then fails, tries again, fails, but the third time I think the bird had finally learned to fly. Now, try not to envision a bird soaring through the air, pretty easy huh? “Waiting For A Train” can take a pretty long time, especially if you have to be somwehere at a certain time and the train is already ten minutes late. This song starts slow and sparse, light strings coming in slowly, but surely; c’mon! I gotta be at a meeting in 10 minutes! Well, after the short inclusion of vocals around 7:10 it starts to pick up, making up for lost time. Would it be a “Paradox” to call this song perfect for a depressing death scene or a death-defying high octane action sequence with those prairie-dogging strings. “Time” passes by so quickly it’s amazing how one year can feel like several and how it almost gets faster with each year. If I had to be stuck in seven audio dreams I would Choose: We Built Our Own World, Dream Is Collapsing, Radical Notion, Old Souls, 528491, Mombassa, and Dream Within a Dream.
