The Roots "how i got over"

You cannot deny what great musicians The Roots are. “A Peace Of Light” is a great start which also features Angel Deroordian, Amber Coffman, and Haley Dekle. You cannot deny the soul that is in the vocals of the next song as they Truck North while reading P.O.R.N.; which is a challange because reading while walking is as difficult, or more difficult, than handling Dice Raw. That Heart-beat, finger snaps, and that piano is just enough to last the "Walk Alone"“Dear God 2.0” has the Roots recruit the Monsters of Folk for a “remix” of their composition off of their self-titled debut. So many great verses, but they start it with some commentary ”They said he's busy hold the line please/Call me crazy, I thought maybe he could mind read/Who does the blind lead?/Show me a sign please/If everything is made in China, are we Chinese/And why do haters separate us like we siamese?/Technology turning the planet into zombies/ Everybody all in everybody's dirty laundry/Acid rain, earthquakes, hurricane, tsunamis.” The next track sees the return of P.O.R.N. and Dice Raw, and features Blu . That bass is undeniably prominent in the song, and if this was reminiscent of how it was before the nineties and aughts where they played the same 8 songs 8 times a day, than those were good times for radio, no "Radio Daze" here. What is better the lyricism? Or the beat? To get the message out you need to sweeten the coffee because coffee tastes like crud, so if you want people to wake up you need to add a little sugar, so they actually listen; hey it's "Now or Never." “You do right so your soul can last/But my role is cast before I even audition for it/So I don't really see an end to my vice/It's just false reformation, no end of my strife/Feel the evil overpowering, you can go ahead throw the towel in/'Cause n****, that's the end of the fight/When you can only see the tunnel at the end of the light/Light's out, party over, that's the end of your life/‘and a mountain.” “How I Got Over” lets you know how they survived living in the streets with soulful vocals from Black Thought and Dice Raw.There is a very upbeat rythym section, maybe illustrating their pride that they survived “When you on the corners, there's too much drama /Livin with the police right behind ya/It's always more than a slight reminder /We livin in a war zone like Rwanda / Before I go back to the Heavenly Father /Pray for me if it ain’t too much bother...” “DillaTUDE: The Fight of Titus” was a nice short interlude to prepare us for “The Day” featuring Blu, Phonte, and Patty Crash who starts off the day with a look in the mirror and positive reassurance; that's a goodway to start, and the sound is positively optimistic, for those who need that pleasing start before they wake up on the wrong side of the day, listen to this. All I got to say is “Right On!” Joanna Newsom sings the hook on this song? And STS drops a verse as “I shine a light for the future so my presence a gift/t's evident I'm heaven scent with Thomas Edison elements/ Reverence for what I represent to show my benevolence/ This is Philly, I'm repping for the art of the city/ Came from South West Atlanta, gave my heart to the city.” More power in percussion which has me shuffle back and forth in place, as the lyricism is... The precursor to the Joint album “Wake Up!” featuring John Legend has his soulful voice singing the hook as he plays some piano, Black Thought drops ”Uh, remix, rising up out of the flames like a Phoenix/Straining to carry the weight of my brain like a genius/Knowing I'm sowing seeds, let's see whose thumb is the greenest/If I said I mean it, I did it because I need it/Eat, sleep it or bleed it, write it down and then read it/Asphalt to the cement, your trash talk, delete it/I blast off then lay 'em out like a Tempur-Pedic/It's Black Thought, for certain I'ma win eventually/This unsung, underrated, under-appreciated/The one them underachievers had underestimated/Finally graduated, I'm one of the most hated/ Something that's so sacred, nobody gon' take it/Face it, I keep doin' it well” and then John Legend is “Doin’ It Again” by also appearing in “The Fire,” which cannot be put out that easy.Once it starts you know something's goin' down, I love the whole song, but it may even have me feel some California Luv. Ever experience “Tunnel Vision?” Well, it looks like my “Web 20/20,”so that means it’s perfect! The former..oh my gosh I'm Lovin' It! The latter  features Peedi Peedi and Truck North "Any bulls***y'all twist, we call backwards/Jam boy sharp as a tack, we all cactus/Waiting on a big payback with no taxes/So if you follow the game, you might catch this." An autotuned baby crying and the chorus has STS hoping for a “Hustla.” A Peace of Light, Walk Alone, Dear God 2.0, Radio Daze, How I Got Over, Now Or Never, The Fire, Tunnel Vision are "how i got over," but i probably would say they all have their own merits.
