Peter Gabriel "Scratch My Back"

I will commit blasphemy in the next sentence. I have never heard a full Peter Gabriel album, Gasp! For shame!!! I'm sorry, I just haven't got around to it, I 'm glad I finally have, but of course the first one has to be a record full of songs originally written by other people. "Heroes" is an epic start with the strings as the superman of this Orchest-reague. The song is more down-tempo and seems minimal compared to the original. "The Boy in the Bubble" is a nice song that replaces with a slower tempo, changes the horns and drums with that of a piano, and a more somber mood that sounds good, but is different."Mirrorball" is a beautiful song if you love the orchestra; so killer! "Flume" was not a bad rendition of Bon Iver's version. Instead of the keys they use strings sans drums, and his haunting vocals about this Native American who wishes he could live as before the Americans came, and his fear is relayed as "Mojique holds a package in his quivering hands/Mojique sends the package to the American man" forced to live on land left over instead of land that was originally his in "Listening Wind." The original was beautiful, but Peter Gabriel's voice is more suited to a song like this, while Lou's raspy vocals don't exactly fit. Instead of the beautiful acoustic strumming we have the "Power of Your Heart" on strings. I can tell why people like to make covers because they inspire the person who covers them. Instead of  the baritone of Stephen Merrit and piano of Claudia Gonson, as well as the humor in its delivery we have the (alto) of Gabriel and a beautiful string section; much more serious. I like to read, but not as much as reading Gabriel's version of the "Book of Love." Either way you look at it "My Body is A Cage" is huge, and even without the organ or Butler's vocals on the verge of crying Gabriel's version still hits home, just a little gentler though. "I Think It's Going To Rain Today" after I say that this one sounds pretty similiar to the original. "Just because they both have piano in them doesn't mean they're the same you dumb***." Spektor's version of "Apres Moi" is brilliant with that pianitude, those low notes and that little chorir of Regina's toward the end, but I like Gabeiel's version too, that uses a lot of low notes, So i'm guessing a cello and bass trombones. They both are two different, but beautiful, animals; one is more sarcastic in delivery and the other is timid, but wails around 3:05. I'm going to "Phildelphia," The notes of both vocalists are about the same, but Young uses a piano, and strings are Gabriel's . Instead of Radioead's use of this ticking beat and beautifully strummed guitar, keys too, Peter Gabriel slows down the tempo, uses piano, and light strings on "Street Spirit (Fade Out)." If I had 6 songs that could scratch my back I would ask: Heroes, Mirrorball, Listening Wind, Book of Love, Power of Your Heart, and Apres Moi.
