Ryan Adams "III/IV"

I remember the first song i heard from him, and it was "Nuclear" off of the first "Smallville" OST, and I was thinking, he sounds pretty good. This song almost reminds me of that one, but even if we "Breakdown into the Resolve" it would still be a great song to start the double disc with. "Dear Candy," did you know this song was for you? Do you even care, or know I exist? Do you even listen to anybody but yourself? Oh what a song you are missing. But the "Wasteland" is a song that has Adams sounding like a younger Bono, and a backing chorus and percussion that make for a better song."Slow violence only radiates the sand/Delete your messages and.../Come on, come on, come on/Ultraviolet light's know the best way in/Don't wake the monsters in my head/Tip toe they're sleeping in," and if you do you may have to face the wrath of the "Ultraviolet Light" which doesn't sound threatening at all with it's acoustic groove and the refrain "come on come on,come on, come on let's go" and "Stop Playing With My Heart," and stop f***ing around, why don't you ignore what it says and listen to the song; he almost sounds like Julian Casablancas in this one. "Lovely and Blue" is a bruised heart,or an eye, but both can hurt like heck. The guitar is nice start and stop of riff and percussive seconds at certain times makes for a good song, but then twenty seconds before it ends it sounds like there is light horn too. Hey, everyday is somone's birthday, so just by the off chance someone else is reading this on their birthday I say "Happy Birthday" to you! I wish you a happy one, and mean it whole-heartedly! It has a nice alt-country swing to it, and I think it's the bass that helps."Kisses Start Wars," Yeah ain't that the truth! That swinging bass and those vocals are wonderful presents. I hope I got that lovely Guitar riff I wanted, too. "The Crystall Skull" is light on country flavor, but like salt, we don't need too much of it. It has just the right amount, and don't you hate it when people pour almost the whole salt dispenser on your fries? You don't eat fries? You do, but you like that much salt? Well, to each his own then, heh heh...O-K, next song. "Users" of drugs can be mostly misunderstood, and in need of help, or just need help to keep living so they take them, but "Users" of people are just..This songs makes your feet move steady up and down and has this nice groove. If I told you once, I've told you twice, and maybe three times to be crass no means "No!" thumping beat, and up down guitar riff, stop, repeat, and then drive the beat, play some airy guitar as they scream "Stand Up!"The next track is a punky song that slows down and goes punky and then slows down and the tempo builds until it reaches the first tempo and wavers off. "Numbers" is a great song! An ode to "Gracie" which asks "Do you miss me, would you know me at all /If you walked by my house.../Would you smile and turn the corner?/Well your kisses only make it feel worse" and have my heart play a sentimental tune. This metallic riff starts the next track and could break the ice between metalheads and country fans, or maybe it would be a more successful "Icebreaker" for those that do not like country but like nice meaty riffs and indie-rock? "Sewers At The Bottom of the Wishing Well" definately sounds better than what you would think. No Bullshiz! Bono? Did you sneak in the studio again? and that groove with country twang is really nice, and a nice finish! Who doesn't like "Star Wars?" I mean the original trilogy, but I didn't mind the trilogy of prequels, but I know that a lot of fans of the original trilogy call it a stain on the Lucas legacy. OMG! "My Favorite Song" is next! This is a pretty good song, and it should be considering the title, but his favorite song is one he can listen to and think of his love or a song that has his love calling to say she misses him. This piano, handclap, indie-riff, and reverb ending help me consider the top spot. Dear reader, how are you doing? I hope all is well. "P.S." I love to rock, and this song is a good rocking one. Two things that most people hate would have to be "Death and Rats." Ryan wants us to "Kill The Lights" in this 7:28 long track that has the occasional doldrum bell, and an  old school punk attitude that then calls in the twang and steel guitar round 2:35 with a great reggae-country instrumental workout and lovely percussion. The tension is building, and it's getting louder,QUI-ET! Wait a second, what gives? it wavers and then goes to complete silence at 5:54 and then kicks it back at 6:33. Good thing I didn't turn it all the way up, or I might have had a heart attack! If I Could Only Choose 11 Songs I Would Choose: Breakdown Into the Resolve, Wasteland,Ultraviolet Light, Lovely and Blue, Users, No, Kisses Start Wars, Numbers, Icebreaker, My Favorite Song, and Kill the Lights.
