They start it off with the title track and a beat that can drive you off the road.Hey the other instrumentals are good too! I gotta say I really like the riff in the next song which asks the listener to "Stop pacing around and waiting for some moment/That might never arrive/But you're never gonna find it/Like when you were young/And everybody used to call you lucky." We can "Stay Lucky" for only so long, and when hard times come we let it come; whether it be waves in a relationship, fevers that just won't break, or even a bad luck streak. If his love thinks it's better than mine "Bring It On!" The next track, "The Diamond Street Choir," is another good song that has an old school doo-wop/ R&B flavor that has a catchy chorus. As we look around we find "The Queen of Lower Chelsea" with this nice latin beat, and great riff dipped in salsa; great lyrics too. Tortilla chips don't need salsa, but it tastes better with it. Ok, going back to a place closer to home with another driving beat "And the lonesome understand with the choirs in my head/We were orphans before we were ever the sons of regret, my baby/On and on and on, how the alphabet boys carry on/And we were orphans before we were ever the sons in the songs." They mention Sinatra at the end! The next song starts with a short hip thing, and then get rocking in the ring with a tale of the "Boxer." The ring must be that against the heart. "Old Haunts" is about forgetting the good times because those days are gone, well not exactly gone because it's what you make of it. As long as you are in good spirits they can be here until the day you die! They want you to actually live your life as it is happening, and not how it was, because you are not living, you're just watching home movies. I love "The Spirit of Jazz" and all the improv and great instrumentals, I also love this song as well, which doesn't exactly portray it, but is another good track. We cannot deny the comparisons to Springsteen, just the delivery and their conviction to create something that is made for more than just listening to, but to inspire others to do great things and help others. Well, two tracks ago is about living in the present, but the last track has us reminiscing and returning to the time "When We Were Young;" a heartfelt song with the gang vocals, about a lost love that must be forgotten because of the damage it has caused. What if these titles became new forms of "American Slang?": Stay Lucky, Bring It On, The Diamond Street Choir, The Queen of Lower Chelsea, and Orphans.
