We Are The Fallen "Tear The World Down"
After the unbelievable success of the debut of his other band Evanescence, there were disputes regarding creative differences and artistic integrity over commercialism, so one got a little moody and decided it would be best for both to leave. After, he helped write and/or produce songs for the like of Daughtry, Kelly Clarkson, Avril Lavigne, Lindsay Lohan, Bo Bice,Celine Dion, and Flyleaf, besides producing his own album during the time between bands. All I will say is that serendipity helped the formation of this band concerning the frontwoman and former American Idol contestant Carly Smithson; the other former members of Evanescence, Marty o' Brien, and of course, Ben Moody. Maybe it's not serendipity, maybe I'm just trying to sound smart, whatever. You might as well "Bury Me Alive," because if you don't this song will; with all the weight this song carries. This song was the first single, and is the closest to his other band's sound, so it is a nice bridge between bands. If you ever play this song, play it while in a car wash because it is a different experience. As I'm being pulled under the ground by the darkness slightly haunted melodies, sweeping strings and metallic rhythm score this episode; then a choir assists Smithson as they watch me "Burn" and sing "Lay down your life/only for you..." F#{% where am I? This song reminds me of the theft , and really, "Replaced all your love with pain/So afraid to face the world alone" with lyrics like this it might as well be. However, the sound is lighter than the last two songs, so it's easier to dig through this earth I have been pulled into. That feeling when you are thrown in a situation you did not expect, that seems out of a movie, has happened. As I try to crawl through this earth to return home I hear not only Smithson's haunting vocals (That definitely sound similiar to Lee's), piano accompaniment and strings that might be fit for a hero, someone whispers "Don't Leave Me Behind." It seems innocent enough, so I carry her on my back as I continue. She instantly falls asleep as this piano led lullaby tries to lull me to sleep as well; I'm reminded of My Immortal, but they are not the same. It is becoming harder to stay awake, and I fall. Instead of Going Under; instead of the the crunchy guitars being at the forefront, and instead starting with a quicker pace with volume up to 11,the crunch is secondary to the beautiful harmonies and riffs in this song. It begins with a slightly slower start with the volume turned down, and if I was falling "Through Hell" I wouldn't know it because this song is one of my favorites. I have fallen, and I cannot find the girl. I am in complete darkness and fear I will meet the eyes of one I choose not to mention. I hear that same voice again, but this time she says "I Will Stay," and I cannot believe what I'm hearing, but she repeats the chorus that was resonating in the darkness. I am confused at first, but then I realize that I am not there, but somewhere else. She tells me to run before it is too late, and I tell her I cannot go "Without You." The pace of this song is perfect for running, and for creating tension. "I am not leaving for I had made a promise, and through thick and thin I stay, for this where I belong, now GO AWAY!" I feel as there is a bond within that short period since we met, and I'm confused, but I try to pick her up, and instead, I freeze as an image is burned in my head. she tells me I'm a body challanged dip#!+, everybody's fool, g()d-awful hack....Just stay in school. I may not have ever seen her face, nor have I forgotten what she had said. I have no idea how to get back up; I probably need the help of "St John" to help me out of this situation because I now hear these monstrous footsteps. The track has some of the most attitude, and Smithson almost sounds like Cher. The chorus is one of the song's best assets; the haunting angelic harmonies besides the last minute. I figure if I am quiet I should be fine. I climb as the piano continues playing a ballad; a departure from the last song. It's uplifting, so should be able to escape before it is too late. The lyrics tell a tragic tale of her heart's Shakespearean fairytale. I sit here partially freaked out because I thought I STILL HEARD THE FOOTSTEPS. After all, "I Am Only One" I said, What the hell can I do? I mean I tried to save her, and now her deranged boyfriend wants to "Tear The World Down." Is that just me, or does the choir just sound as ominous as it is supposed to? F_C_!!!! More sweeping strings and Smithson's powerful vocals, and the ground is cracking. I see fire! Guess who I see.. I was just hoping it was a dream. "The piano cannot save you now" I thought; unless I tried to throw it. The choir sounds like they are screaming at me, but I cannot even understand what they are saying as they are under all this..What? "All my love is lost/All my hope is gone."
