Twilight:New Moon OST

There have been many critics (movie, as well as music), and people who act like critics, that ask why the movies cannot be as good as the soundtracks? Now I think the movies aren't too bad, but that's just me. Death Cab For Cutie starts the disc off with the song penned exclusively for this OST entitled "Meet Me On The Equinox." What a killer song to start the soundtrack off with. Who needs "Friends?" Band of skulls do because their friends are so beautiful, and cause them to pen this dance-rock distortion track.Thom Yorke fears that "Hearing Damage" may be imminent by listening to so much good music at once with its techno-dance beat and echo ridden vocals. Lykke Li contemplates the "Possibility" that there may be an unfair balance that has her pay much more than her lover in this relationship; who prefers to pay for apathy because it is cheaper (in two different ways) with a sparse arrangement and light atmospherics. "White Demon Love Song" is one contributed by The Killers, which has this nice solo at the end. This song makes reference to what takes place in the movie between Bella and Edward; when he leaves because he thinks it would be best, but doesn't realize that her love is much stronger than her fear, which is minimal, hence the white demon love songs in her dreams (those of Edward) and black invitation which cannot change (turning to a vampire; cannot undo). "Satellite Heart" is another one of lost love with light horns and strings, somber, a yearning for her lover as she is a satellite heart lost in the dark. Muse's "I Belong To You" is a great funk-piano ridden track and sound just as good as off their last record. I do love the sound of Bon Iver's "Rosalyn" with it's acoustic strumming and high vocals with some echo. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club contribute a nice harmonica-injected track in "Done All Wrong" with nice guitar as well; a lighter bluesy track. Do you hear some Hurricane Bells? Do you fear "Monsters?" Why not just skip the song if you do, but they do make a reference to vampires with a dancey-grunge vibe and nice solo. The song reminds me of "All Apologies" and/or "Lithium" for some reason. Sea Wolf wants us to wait for "The Violet Hour" which is punky beat wrapped in an indi-folk."Shooting The Moon" is probably not a good idea, but the dance rock of OK Go are starting to have me consider it with that drum solo, and sparse guitar squeals. "Slow Life" features Victoria Legrand in cahoots with a Grizzly Bear. I probably need several Editors to make what I write more tolerable.  I could have sworn i heard this epic low note piano but all I hear is"No Sound But The Wind." Oh Well.We end this OSTwith a contribution made by Alexandre Desplat's "New Moon [The Meadow];" a nice piano driven track that has one contemplating the power of love. IFICouldOnlyChoose7 TracksIWould ChooseThese: Meet Me On The Equinox, Friends, Rosalyn, Done All Wrong, Monsters, Shooting the Moon, No Sound But The Wind.

Switchfoot "Hello Hurricane"

A "Needle and Haystack Life" seems like Switchfoot wants to give U2 a run for their money with an anthem made for the stadium with the arena sized and shimmery guitar, and great beat "In this needle and haystack life/I've found miracles there in your eyes/It's no accident we're here tonight/We are once in a lifetime/Oh, oh/Don't let go/Don't give up hope/All is forgiven/You breathe it in(x2)/We call it living." But the next song has this punk attitude and great riff that has Foreman singing he is his own affliction and disease and that there is no drug that can be sold to make him well, yes, he has made mistakes, but he wants to live the rest of his life ALIVE, and not under medication. With this great solo and screaming of..alive for emphasis on "Mess of Me." How would you feel if someone told you "Your Love Is a Song?" pretty good, huh? Well, that is exactly what Jon feels for his love, and that no symphony could ever be sweeter. The following is a nice rocking song with a nice beat and thise atmospherics calling for echos to follow and causes visions of the calm before the storm, many dark clouds, what is that? That is "The Sound [John M Perkin's Blues]" of a heartbeat, followed by love in quantites "Enough To Let Me Go." The latter is another sentimental song asking if his receiver loves him enough to let him fall for her. Everyone wants to be "Free" of taxes, inhibitions, limits, etc and this song has this great riff and great drum work along with atmospherics making this song as big as the sky; a great anthem, and pump up song that then finishes with wonderful strings. If you feel that your shell is a prison cell listen to this song. It could be about how one's image they had created eventually causes that person to be pigeonholed in acting a certain way,and liking certain things when that person is not to be placed in generalizations. "Hello Hurricane" I was hoping you would not come, but you seem nicer than most with your sing along chorus and positive vibes. Really? How the...hey, weren't we just talking about being trapped in generalizations last track? "Always" have the strings worked well together with the beat to make a better song; a song devoted to his love. I mean, c'mon, what would you expect? "Bullet Soul" has this dirty riff and this part where he screams "Are You Ready to Go?" at the end which sounds really loud, and slightly distorted; kinda jarring considering the source. It repeats the sentiment that they are in this together and the kid has a bullet soul, asking him/her if he/she  is ready. Are we done"Yet?" Nope, I have to mention that this song has Foreman running until his heart caves in and that if it doesn't break your heart it isn't love."Sing It Out" is a lovely anthem that instead of pumping you up, it makes you want to call that friend/love you haven't seen in 25 minutes, not me, I'm just guessing. the next song is a heartfelt song where the writer lays his heart on the line, but instead of an acoustic uses an electric, and asks "what are you lookin' for with red eyes?" and the lyrics are depressing "All of my days are spent/Within this skin/Within this cage that I'm in/Nowhere feels safe to me/Nowhere feels home/Even in crowds I'm alone," but at least he's holding on.So that's why it it's called "Red Eyes," and the end is an atmospheric/percussive-lite experiment. I don't want to say techno, cause it would be misleading, but it is different for them. The deluxe version has acoustic versions of "Mess of Me" and "Always," as well as a nice b-side that may require "Stitches," which has this eastern flavor. If I had to greet this Hurricane with 7 different songs I would play: Mess of Me,The Sound[John M Perkins' Blues], Free, Hello Hurricane, Bullet Soul, Red Eyes, Stitches.

Rick Ross "Teflon Don"

"I'm Not A Star," is proclaimed by swag rap maybach music maven Rick Ross, who proclaims verses that beg to differ tats for tits and statues in the cit, talkin' of coke and kilo, cars and girls. "Free Mason" proclaims the rag to riches story"I go to the grave before I be a b**** n****/Better behave, you're dealin' with some rich n*****/Started in the ghetto, now we worldwide/Multiplying and I pray to God we never die" with a great verse by Jay-Z and appearance from John Legend. Cee-lo brings the soul with "Tears of Joy" and great guitar and beat in the background with verses spit with determination by Ross. "Maybach Music III" has some great drums, horns, keys, and who can forget the king of the south, T.I., who spits a great verse, and the wonderful vocals from Erykah Badu. Yeezy make it easy to hang with the boss and "Live Fast, Die Young" by proclaiming "I’m back by unpopular demand/Least he still poppin’ in Japan, shoppin’ in Milan/ Hoppin’ out the van, screams from the fans “Yeezy, always knew you’d be on top again!”/And we ’bout to hit Jacob the Jeweler/So I can be like Slick Rick, and rule ya/Dr. Martin Louis the King, Junior/And I’ma never let the dream turn to Kruegers/My outfit so disrespectful/You can go ‘head and sneeze ’cause my presence blessed you." But "Peter Piper pickin’ peppers, Rick pitch poems/My leather long enough to keep a thick bitch warm/When that a**is enormous, abs abnormal/And tans in the morning on sands in California/ Seems like we gettin’ money for the wrong things." The next track has me feelin "Super High" with wonderful vocals from the guest and this nice beat, this song seems like I can experience astral projection or fly in the sky. Awesome beat drives us to see "No. 1," with guests appearances from Diddy and Trey Songz. Is this a nod to "Mc Hammer" as he says that he has a lot of cars and dancers and he's sellin' dough (dope?), but too legit to quit. Gucci appears and so do some background horns. Rick Ross and Styles P are "B.M.F.(Blowin Money Fast)" one nation under god real( n word) get money from the f'n start. "Aston Martin Music" features lovely vocals from Chrisette Michelle and Drake, who also spits a verse. "I talk slicker than a pimp from Augusta/Who just had his linen suit dry-cleaned, b*****, what's up witcha?/I hate callin' the women b******, but the b****** love it/I took some sense and made a nickel of it" among more verses, but "When I'm alone in my room sometimes I stare at the walls/ Automatic weapons on the floor but who can you call?" Even "All The Money In The World" cannot deter the feeling of loneliness and insecurity " Being the only boy = definition of a man./All the money is the world still not a big enough as his./Still all the money in the world still not big enough as his./For me to turn my back on me being the man that I am." IfIHadTo Choose7SongsIWould Choose: Free Mason, Tears of Joy, Maybach Music III, Live Fast Die Young, Super High, No. 1, Aston Martin Music.

The Black Angels "Phosphene Dream"

Oooooh, somethings givin' me "Bad Vibrations," a killer song to start a record. "Can you tell a wish from a spell?/A hug from lie?/They both make you feel so gone./We warned you from harm again./You're beating hearts again." SCared? there is a "Haunting at 1300 McKinley," but it has a nice groove, and hook that brings drums with swagger. "Yellow Elevator #2 " reminds me of Ghostbusters by reason of some of the background keys. You'll see what I mean. "Sunday Afternoon" is a quicker rocker, but warns you to keep your guard up for there is a "River Of Blood" with an attack from this Stomping Drum and distortion Reverb Monster. Dive left, no wait, Right! Phew! "Entrance Song" is one of those good driving songs, or one that helps you get pumped up for a party or a night out on the town as you dance a little and lipsync in the mirror in this goofy manner that embarrasses you when you find out your sister was there the whole time. Or maybe it's just me.It helps start your swagger, nice n' easy, but nothing too strong. Not like how some people like to bathe in axe or another type of spray. Title track is next, with this good muted beat behind some atmospheric distortion. "True Believers" has this western swagger with a little touch of the east{part of it beat, and the rest(almost) everything else}, and it slows down as the night passes over the desert. "Telephone" reminds me of "New Dress" by Rancid except the keys and guitar are sharing the lead, instead of bass,  and it adds some distortion and a faux-horn. "The Sniper" comes in slowly but surely, ready for the kill with some big brother references: "we decide what goes inside your head" Creepy, and the rest of the lyrics are a little unsettling, but hey do snipers normally talk about kissing babies, sniffing flowers, and stroking kitties? My Favorite segments of this dream are: Bad Vibrations, Yellow Elevator #2, River of Blood, Entrance Song, True Believers, Telephone, and The Sniper.

Cymbals eat Guitars "Why There Are Mountains"

"And The Hazy Sea" begins with some horns and some distortion, experiencing hypnogoia until these killer screams come from knowhere and kick that hypnowhatthef--- to the curb. Screams? Yes, with a lot of emotion, but also ones with Indie credibility. The song is 6:13, and it takes bout five to fully wake up,so that's good it I'm having an off day. "Some Trees (Merrit Moon)" is a nice song to follow, but where for are though trees in the seas of the milky way? Distortion, Piano, Touch O' horns O' Malley, Guitarman, and our chums the drums make this trip to "Indiana" alright. Predictable? It's for you to decide. "Cold Spring" has a nice strings section and is more.Awww, do I have to "Share?" Sometimes it's better to find out yourself when listening to a new record. Let's just share that halfway in the aforementioned song there is nice synergy between horns and guitars. Drums? How could I forget you, without you this wall of sound would be stagnant, and keys came at the end, but you get recog too. "Wind Phoenix (Proper Name)" is a real nice rocker with several change o tempa and a good drummer. "Living North" makes you want to scream? or is it just the things that happen there? I don't know, you tell me. "Like Blood Does" is a slow rocker that has me thinking of being depressed "And I'm visited by naked reality/In the higher gloss of the cars that cut in front of me/And depression is nothing compared to what's in store for them/Having hitched across America/Like an itinerant laborer /Or a serial killer on pulsing arterials/I numbly recline /In a filthy slicked lawn chair/As our garage yawns behind me with tunnels/The pinkest sky I'd ever seen /Still pocked with dirigibles /And flying machines that opened up." The song then kicks into high gear at the 4:40 mark and finishes with a bang, but for the full and correct effect I suggest you listen to the whole song for correct effect. If I had to proclaim 7 of my favorite songs on a mountain I would scream: ...And The Hazy Sea, Some Trees (Merrit Moon), Indiana, Cold Spring, Share, Wind Phoenix (Proper Name), Like Blood Does

AFI " Crash Love"

The album starts with a trio of great songs in "Torch Song," an epic kick off a slow beat nice guitar work, and gang vocals waiting for the torch to be relayed to the next song where "Beautiful Thieves" run amok. "If we run this light/Take a little life/No one will care at all/Oh! /We can burn it and leave/For we are the beautiful thieves/No one suspects at all" which ends on a slow short groove. Love the intro in this song and the instrumentals throughout; great guitar, bass, and drums and a radio playing suicide. The vocal delivery is great as well. Hand claps and a funky "Given Up" style riff with a catchy hook and chorus. They also stay true to their word as there is a gang yell of “Hey,” but no unforgiving/ bloodcurdling screaming of their "heyday." Punk beat with an extremely poppy melody and great solo in "Veronica Sawyer Smokes" but "Dying since I had misread your blue heart/Black eyes, feigning falling, words I won't forget/I died right when I saw you while you shared that cigarette." "Okay, I Feel Better Now" with its great guitar and driving beat in the background, with a nice solo and some group vocals. Shall we "Medicate" this waning interest with the first single of this record with a catchy record, and a whisper filled breakdown similar to the first single of  "December-underground" sans screaming .If that does not work, how about we "Flash, Flash, Car Crash/We're no fixtures. Quick, now, Quick take our picture" part of the catchy chorus that says "I Am Trying Very Hard To Be Here." A quick paced song is what’s in "Sacrilege," as well as resentment with an on the cuff angst delivery in the vocals department and short solo. "I see you're scared well/I feel fine/Oh please believe I'm doing just fine/For what's deceased I shall never grieve/Just let your faith die." and that is not hard to say it is directed toward organized religion, and explicitly against it. "Darling, I Want to Destroy You" are not words you would like to hear, and you can only hope they have "Cold Hands" which has this awesome poppy melody and instrumentals that encourage you to sing along. "It Was Mine" is a nice finish to the standard edition record, but the deluxe has four more tracks including the "Fainting Spells" caused by the change of singing and slower pace to a slightly quicker one with gang screams leading to a handclap splash toward the end and that screaming Havok used in the breakdown of "Miss Murder" to help finish this tune. The double step beat and shimmery guitar of "We've Got The Knife" make this a catchy B-side, and "Where We Used to Play" is another catchy one. SoIfIHadToChoose7SongsTheyWouldBe: Torch Song, Beautiful Thieves, End Transmission, Veronica Sawyer Smokes, I Am Trying Very Hard To Be Here, Cold Hands, It Was Mine.

Muse "The Resistance"

This album starts with the glamstyle rock of "Uprising," that features music video with a monster teddy bear. I like "Resistance" which places love as the resistance to the disenchanting and will-beating attack of the oppressors? Great drumming and piano play, the atmospherics make it seem more spacey. "Undislosed Desires" was one of my favorite songs off this record with it's one two step beat, and the synth? I told you i am ignorant, but I like the lyrics in this one. The funk-dance bass as well..."I want to  reconcile the violence in your heart/ I want to recognize your beauty's just a mark/ I want to exorcise the demons from you past/ I want to satisfy the undisclosed desires in your heart." "United States of Eurasia(+Collateral Damage)" could not have been made without Queen. It has this three part, which is what reminds me of them, and these great eastern style instrumentals and nice beat. "Guiding light" is a good song too, that has this great solo toward the middle, but before that it sounds so spacious. In the lyrics it mentions that he cannot hurt his receiver anymore; it seems that he is referring to her as the guiding llight and now he is useless without his guiding light. "Unnatural Selection" has some great instrumentals and basically goes on about how imbalanced and unfair the wealth is spread. "MK Ultra" is another good song too. "I Belong To You" has this funky sound and bouncing piano slides, just a real catchy song, that ends with it's suffix Mon Couer S'ouvre a Ta Voix. Need experience to be able to score a big budget film? Wekll, that is what Muse did by writng a three part symphony with  Exogenesis: Symphony Part 1 (Overture), Exogenesis:Symphony Part II(Cross-Pollination), and ExoGenesis: Symphony Part III (Redemption) I think I like part three the best because of the beautiful harmonies and vocals. 7 Tracks to play during the Resistance: Resistance, Undislosed Desires, United States of Eurasia,(+Collateral Damage), Unnatural Selection, MK Ultra, I Belong To You(+ Mon Couer S'ouvre a Ta Voix), Exogenesis:Symphony Part III (Redemption).

Avett Brothers "I and Love and You"

The title track is very sentimental and introspective as he sings "when at first I learned to speak, I used all my words to fight..." and as he sees that girl who can turn heads and have his heart racing she asks him to dance, but he says no thanks, how hard those three word sare for him to say. Please stay, and be part of the "January Wedding," which has banjo at the forefront and is also dripping with sentimentality:"No longer does it matter what circumstances we were born in /She knows which birds are singin' /And the names of the trees where they're performin' in the mornin." Have you ever had a "Head Full Of Doubt/Road Full of Pride"? Well I think almost every one has had a head full of doubt stuck in a cage that won't let their dreams fly out. "And It Spread" with wonderful heartfelt, emotionally filled vocals and instrumentals all in a bluegrass twang. 'The Perfect Space" is just awesome with a slow start to the song and then this lil drum solo and nice groovy piano and shouting at the shouting people to "Get Out!" which is kinda jarring considering where it's coming from. "Ten Thousand Words" is another great song to follow with wonderful vocals and instrumentals, especially where there is a slight two part harmony. Then "Kick Drum Heart" is another great song too with the bouncing o' the piano keys, and the drums in this one too. "Last night I dreamt the whole night long/I woke with a head full of songs/I spent the whole day,/I wrote em down but it's a shame/Tonight i'll burn the lyrics/ cause every chorus was your name." To write those in a "Laundry Room," who knew? But the last minute is probably the best part of the song with it's patch of bluegrass."Ill With Want" has the brothers acting like people they know aren't them; as they are caught in a net of longing and desperation which causes them to change into someone able to break out of the net. "Tin Man" is good, but it's a "Slight Figure of Speech" that has this rapid fire vocal delivery in the fashion of BNL,except a little quicker, with a nice bassline and great percussion to make a great song. Oh, "It Goes On and On" this feeling of being "Incomplete and Insecure." He sings" I haven't finished a thing since I started,so why bother now?" that's my cue I'm done with this one. IfIHadToChoose 7 songs to confess love would you use: January Wedding, The Perfect Space, Ten Thousand Words, Kick Drum Heart, Laundry Room, Slight Figure of Speech, Incomplete and Insecure.

P Roach "Time For Annihilation: On The Record,on the Road"

This next record has new studio and live recordings, all of which were recorded and performed with conviction. The first five songs are new studio cuts which we start with "Burn," as Shaddix addresses someone he saw as a hero, but was really a fake trying to set him up to fail and now he is warning that his just desserts are coming. Great drums in the song and dual guitar at the end of the song, again vocals filled with emotions. Men can be sexual beings and may sometimes have a "One Track Mind," which basically talks about a one night stand, lets say. Obsession? Narcissistic Lover? There is a great head bobbin' beat and the guitar has a great riff played throughout, but the light string breakdown with some whispered lyrics slows for about twenty seconds before finishing it off where it started. First Single of this live/studio comp "Kick in the Teeth" is a great anthem for the downtrodden ready to kick some @-- of their own with a great solo, and head bobbin beat; a great pump up song. we slow it down with "No Matter What" with acoustic guitar and a nice sentimental devotional. Ok, Now back to kickin @ss with a nother pump up song that addresses how sometimes we can be our own worst enemies by refusing to try because of failure or our own feelings of inadequecy. We kick off the live stuff with "Getting Away With Murder" one of their funkiest (not that much, but you can hear the groove) hard rock nuggets, and one of the best after their flirtation with the overdone Rap-rock that polluted the airwaves; some was good, but a lot was just redundant. This song illustrates the energy of their live shows, as well as the strong connection they have with their fans. "To Be Loved" starts with a little "Blitzkrieg Bop" sample before going into their short return to the rap-rock sound with a punk attitude and desire for some f***in respect. They play one of their biggest singles in the last several years, "Lifeline," which has a great positive message and sounds like a harder rockin' "Ragoo" from KOL; with whole diferent sentiments of course. The biggest single from from "Getting Away With Murder" was "Scars" as he starts with an introduction asking what are the names in the crowd and says "nice to meet ya" as he goes to address the other half of the crowd and tells them that everything they do comes from the heart, and that the song is about finding yourself and moving on to be a better person after the scars heal. "Hollywood Wh*re" is played next, and is a good song addressing those who live to be famous and are famousfor the sake of being famous; addicted to high life, and meets her maker as the party ends. Looks like "Time Is Running Out," which has a commanding of participation in singing the "Woahoahoahoah." "Forever" is next which has an extended intro with a nice guitar intro and addresses the song to the dirty girls, and then he retorts "I said that really perverted." The second single from P Roach "Between Angels and Insects" asks the crowd to go Motherf___in crazy! A song against the greed and "need" of frivolous things that cost too much. They play the song as it was meant to be played...LOUD! The final track is their first ever single "Last Resort" which ends the concert or disc with a shot of anger-fueled nostalgia. IfIHadToChoose7SongsIWouldChoose: Burn, One Track Mind,  Enemy, To Be Loved, Scars, Between Angels and Insects, and Last Resort.

Enrique "Euphoria"

Enrique Iglesias' bilingual album starts with "Cuando Me Enamoro" which, I believe roughly translates into when I fall in love, has Juan Luis Guerra singinig alongside Mr. Iglesias in this nice song. "No Me Digas Que No" which means "Don't Tell Me No" is an even better song that features Winsin and Yandel which makes for a great plus in the song with a short rap, a rocky intro and reggaeton flavor. The next song makes one feel like they are flying in the "Ayer" or in the memories of yesterday. "Dile Que" is very sentimental and has Iglesias asking someone else to tell his (future) love that he loves her. We kick off the english language songs with one of Iglesias' most upbeat singles and songs, a great summer and party song, One that has a lot of positive vibes a great appearnce from Pitbull, and this great beat that makes me say "I Like It." The song is about a fling while both lovers are away. Akon appears on the great reggae tinged "One Day at a Time," which has great sentiments and some background horns; good group effort on that song. First, Pitbull; then, Akon; and now Usher. They recruited some big name artists on this record, and this song is called "Dirty Dancer, about the woman who can bring the animal from the inside out and loves the thrill of the game, but does not want to pay the cost of love, but would rather play and leave. "Tu Y Yo" has some nice guitar on it, a great beat and is about the lobve between a couple. "No Me Digas Que No" returns for another version without Winsin & Yandel, but the song is still a good one. IfIHadToChoose7SongsIWouldChoose: Cuando Me Enamoro, No Me Digas Que No, Dile Que, I Like It, One Day At A Time, Tu Y Yo, No Me Digas Que No.

Discovery "LP"

You know what looks better than an "Orange Shirt?" One that's in your favorite color. But the beat in the first song was bouncy, and the keys were addictive. The song is about that lover that sneaks in the house late at night to sleep with their crush, who's nervous as F that their parent is going to do a random night check, but the prince promises to leave before daybreak, because all he wants is to spend time with his lover. "Osaka Loop Line " has these spacey keys and distorted beat at the beginning, with a great last minute and a half. "Can You Discover?" is basically a Discovery remix of Ra Ra Riot's "Can You Tell?" that has a reggae-vibe with those lovely autotuned vocals; it sounds really nice on this song. If I said "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend" what would you say? UGH, either male or female. This song has lovely vocals from Angel Deradoorian working of the energy and vocals of Wes Miles. Great Beat, and sounds on the song. "So Insane" that this beat goes quick and then slows down giving in to the need to diversify, Tempo change! "Ooh baby you got me going so insane and I just don't know what's going down/And I try to get off my knees and try to fight fight this feeling, but I can't/Now that you're here I know just what to do/Now that you're here I'm gonna come come to you." A song of obsession and/or devotion? Love the last 15 seconds. "Swing Tree" "Carby" features Rostam's band mate from Vampire Weekend. Ezra Koening. who contributes some autotuned vocals that accompany some xylophone with this bas thump, and muted clap beat which the has ezra's vocals muted for about twenty seconds from 2:02 and then goes back to normal at 2:30. The last thirty seven seconds has this wall of sound with the xylophone, beat and the bass thump. One of my favorite songs Would be "I Want You Back" from Jackson Five, and they actually remix it by slowing the tempo with some vocal distortion/ autotuning, swiriling keys, cymbal sounds; I think they make a great rendition of that song with their own flavor. "It's Not My Fault (It's My Fault)" just has them saying the same thing over and over with an addictive hand clap beat and triangle clinking. "Slang Tang" leaves me without words to say; Ha! you got me! IfIHadTo Choose7SongsI WouldChoose: Orange Shirt,Osaka Loop Line, Can You Discover?, I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend, Carby, I Want You Back, Slang Tang .

Britney Spears "Femme Fatale"

A Return To Form? The Best of Her Records? Best Record of the Year? I thought Blackout and Circus were pretty good, so No. Let me listen one more time, I didn't do that intentionally, and it's not the exact title as her debut hit. and three,NOOOOOO. It starts with the one two punch of hit singles of "Till The World Ends" and "Hold It Against Me. I like the former,as a whole, better than "Hold It Against Me" which again is a sexual double entendre: I shouldn't have to spell it out but I will ( body close, and hold a "grudge"/ use something against her). I do like the breakdown in that song though. "Inside Out" is about Britney trying to break up with someone and end it with a bang she sings "Cmon Give me something to remember/ baby shut your mouth and turn me inside out" and "Trying to say goodbye but it’s hot and heavy/You touch me and it’s breaking me down/I’m telling you let’s just give it up and get down". The next song was the Third single, "I Wanna Go," which is very catchy and has this nice whistle line, i like how the drum sounds on it I I I Wanna go,go,go and show you just "How I Roll"; a nice song with bubble sfx , a nice hook, and vocal interplay between someone that sounds like Will.I.Am and makes you wanna go "(Drop Dead) Beautiful," ok, maybe not, but you can visit your posse. This song has a good beat and is talking to hot..person and has this call and response of "Beautiful" by Britney and "Drop Dead" by Sabi who then has her own solo in the song which is nice. SWAK? Does that mean this relationship is working? "Big Fat Bass" actually has Will.I.Am starting the song with auto-tune and nice piano at the beginning, and there is autotuned Britney with a dance beat that has some techno sounds and sfx. This is definately made for the dance floor, no doubt! "Trouble For Me" is about  the life of the party that always causes her trouble because she likes him and wants to, but might regret it "Me and you burn disaster/And you're only a danger to me/But the party ain't the same without you/That's why you're so good for everybody else/But you're trouble for me." "A Trip To Your Heart" has some nice vocals, she can sing pretty well, but most of these days autotune is used on pop music so much where it's hard to tell wher the voice begins and tuning begins. I really like The funk-lite flavor and instrumentals of "Gasoline," but idid not realize or foesee it would be explicit:"And it's like gasoline/I start, but I'm like a machine/But heart only runs on supreme/So hot, give me your gasoline." the last song is called "Criminal,"
which has some acoustic guitar and this catchy chorus and hook about falling in love with a criminal, because he stole her heart, get it? There is autotune in here too, but you can hear some of her nice voice; a great way to end the record. It sounds like a song I have heard before, but cannot remember wher or who. Overall, it wasn't that bad, and a good addition to her catalog. IfIHadToChoose7TracksIWouldChoose: Till the World Ends, Inside Out, How I Roll, (Drop Dead) Beautiful, Big Fat Bass,GASOLINE, CRIMINAL.

Gorillaz "The Fall"

"Phoner to Arizona" is a nice instrumental start ot the record. While those "Revolving Doors" can get depressing as people pass you by and you feel that you got shafted. The "Hillbilly Man" starts with Albarn singing and then after a minute or so, the beat and the rest come in. "Detroit" is another song sans vocals with nice key loop and percussion, almost like pans. Shy-Town, play on words concerning Chi-Town? "Little Pink Plastic Bags" have these vibrating high notes that sound slightly distorted. "The Joplin Spider" starts with this voiceover, and then it gets into this techno sfx and beat, lasers, and distorted echo-ridden vocals. "The Parish of Space Dust" has this scratchy radio like feed where the transmission is weak and then comes in with some more samples backed by these airy keys and a choir of albarns. Did you hear of the "Snake in Dallas" I was too busy listening to the nice song with the same name with a horn line, and great keys, that end with a robotic Darth Albarn. "Amarillo," or yellow in english has Albarn saying he was lost on the way but "The sun has come to save me,put a little love into my... lonely soul (x2)/(Don't you know I need her loving you? It's no desire...)." The Speak It Mountains" is a countup to seven that has this echo twenty seconds before the song ends. "Aspen Forest"  is a nice stroll until we meet "Bobby In Pheonix' with some nice strumming of the guitar and splashes of funkncountry, and nice vocals from Bobby Womack. "California and The Slipping of The Sun" uses the aids of bloops and sentimental string with a little robotic vocoding and sfx, until the last thirty-five seconds which kicks in with a dance beat and more vocoder-assistaed vocals. The final track is called "Seattle Yodel" and is just 30 seconds of yodeling with slight technical assistance.Overall, the album was okay, but I think I like "Plastic Bleach" much better.Remember I'm an Idiot, and that I don't know what the flip I'm talking about. One of the worst reviews ever. IfIHadTo fall for 7 songs I would fall for: Hillbilly Man, Joplin Spider, Parish of Space Dust, Snake in Dallas, Amarillo, Bobby in Pheonix, and California & The Slipping of The Sun.

Eddie Vedder "Ukulele Songs"

Now it isn't done in most of the Cd's I have seen, but sometimes the artists like to spell out a sentence with several song titles, and the last one that did this, that I remember, was Filter's "Anthems For The Damned" which used the last three tracks to say In Dreams, Only You, Can Stop This. This time it is the first three tracks saying "Can't Keep Sleeping By Myself Without You." He strums pretty quick on the first two songs "Can't Keep," which reveals tension he has being away from his love, and that he cannot be left wondering if the receiver's feelings are the same, and "Sleeping By Myself" has Vedder singing "I could never go to no one else/The hurt don't show but who knows, time will tell/I believe in nothing/But the pain that I can't see this turning out right/ Oh I'll be sleeping by myself tonight." The first seems more upbeat and the second is less positive, even though it's around the same pace. "Without You" is a slower song and is about a broken or troubled relationship where he sings "I'll keep on healing all the scars/ that we've collected from the start
I'd rather this then live without you." The strumming is nice on the next tune, "More Than You Know," and "Goodbye" can be difficult to say to people, but to a "Broken Heart," it's not so hard which ends in a nice way.  "You were put away for something you didn't do" just strike a cord for some reason on "Satellite" as he says he will wait for that satellite to return, which ends with a ringing phone. Hello? "Hey Fakah," what? You "Longing to Belong?."Track order is reversed, but was sequentially placed for effect, there are some nice strings on the latter, and the former is only 8 seconds, but sounds like a swear word interlude; kinda cute. "You're True" is another bare bones ukulele song that sounds nice when placed beside those "Sleepless Nights"."Once In A While" there is a colaboration that sounds amazing, unforgettable even. the last song was not one of 'em. Just kidding, Glen Hansgard makes a nice vocal partner. "Waving Palms" is short, but sweet While "Tonight You Belong To Me" and "Dream A Little Dream" end the album on a more positive note. It's Time for IFIHadToChoose7SongsIWouldChoose: Can't Keep, Sleeping By Myself, MoreThan You Know, Broken Heart, Longing To Belong, Sleepless Nights, and Dream A Little Dream

Jamie Foxx "Best Night of My Life"

He has a lot of guests on this record and the intro "This Will Be" starts it off nice, We got "Best Night of My Life" smokin reefa wit Wiz Khalifa, livin a "Better Life Now" with the boss Rick Ross, you thought we were down and out but you don't know what you talkin 'bout because you're competing against a winner with Southern King T.I. and JTimbo. We can't forget one of the best songs though "Freak"with this techno flavor and awesome beat, vocal autotune, nice interplay with Rico Love, but no one can "Hit it Like This," but Soulja Boy and Ludacris, "Yep That's Me" which features these three, but if you want to hear J Foxx really use his vox Listen to "Fall For Your Type", or one even better "Gorgeous" are his vocals and the instrumentals, the best of the best don't need no Gucci, Prada, Dolce and Gabbana. To take a break, and think, "Let Me Get You on Your Toes," but if you give me "15 Minutes"  I'll show you I can do Sh{t. man that's sick, but not ill, why don't I take a "Sleeping Pill," so the fight with insomnia is not so rambunctious. Let's "Rejoice" with great soulful vocals and great slow jam solo. "All Said and Done" I know I'm not the one, easily defeated in a battle of wits with those no better than twits but got the gift of spit and what a number one... hit if it was played on the radio great song all around, but what's funny is the double entendre in "Sex on The Beach"  IfIHadToChoose 7 Tracksto start the best nights of my life they may be: Best Night of My Life, Winner, FREAK, Fall For Your Type,GORGEOUS, Rejoice, All Said and Done.

to anyone that cares....THANK YOU...and anyone else...I UNDERSTAND....

A STORM OF EPIC AMAZINGNESS IS ON YOUR WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The reason I had not posted anythging in several weeks was because I was finishing listening to and revieqwing the rest of the 200 cds to reach my goal!!! now all that's needed is some editing and pics...yes, don't expect the quality of your favorite or (un)favorite music critics because my caliber is low, but I write my way. I hope they are somewhat interesting to you, kinda clever and somewhat accurate. YOU be the judge, but be prepared cause they're coming. What's that smell? oh.......mediocrity.

F*ck Buttons "Tarot Sport"

Techno-surfing in the solar system! Dancing on the board and doing the two step. "Surf Solar" just gives the feet the urge to move, even if dancing is not an option, moving is.OHH digital waves! WATCHOUT! Call me silver, But I'm no surfer; I envision surfing the solar system like on though. Distortion at the end has dissonance and reverberates until we get to the "Rough Steez" which picks up where track one left off. Heavy feedback and distortion which then brings the tribal drums, or a horse's trot, and key sfx. "The Lisbon Maru" has this steady marching band drum-style beat, just music to help you think. You don't need to be all in to experience the music, but you can experience it as you think. Calling all "Olympians," I..uh...wait a second the song is only 10:54? It feels longer, and again another song that you can just listen to while working on something else, nice ambience. Uh Oh...I think someone is offfended by my ignorance. Don't be so sensitive, please; cutting off someone's hand for typing something not completely informed is too extreme, and how would you think it would feel to have a "Phantom Limb?" I know I should say something, I mean I have something to say, and I think it's there, but...THERE IS NOTHING! wierd. OMG! one of my favorite rides of all time is "Space Mountain," I think I'm back in space again, but this time slowly careening in space with a couple...big rocks. Meteor Shower! Good thing it's like the movies where it's going in slow-mo and you can easily maneuver around them.Uh Oh, I see something. If I move quickly and quietly I can avoid the "Flight of the Feasthered Serpent" Dang! The beat tripped me up and my board is spinning out of control. I didn't think this would be the type of music that would play during my freefall. The beat is picking up I am descending even faster now.I Told You I'm not a writer, and I suffered that blackout about an hour ago. OH yeah, and since there are exactly seven songs on this record the feature is void once again.

Beach House "Teen Dream"

"Zebra" is a great way to start a record with awesome instrumentals and wonderful vocal delivery."Silver Soul" with shimmery guitar intro and keys, and heartfelt vocals. It seems like a trip to "Norway" may be a good idea.Where you thinkin' that you gotta run now? Why don't we take a "Walk in the Park?" Take a stroll, do some thinking, and just enjoy the music. "Used to Be" so easy to write a simple review, but a bobbing beat and the keys make this line "As the sun grows high and you serve your time, does each day just feel like another lie?" not as sour. Ah to be in Love! "Oh you hear my cry, lover of mine/ No tear in the eye or fear in my mind" To feel the need to sing and dance" In a wide open field we know we can feel/Awake and unreal, off to nowhere."  Sometimes relationships may only take a small crack to break the ceramic heart, which leaves the will misguided and does the wrong thing in hopes for "Better Times." This song has a female vocalist on this song, wow that is dense."10 Mile Stereo" has this lovely intro, and driving bluegrass-like beat (muted) and some cymbal crashes at the last minute and a half. What is "Real Love," but a song that gives the heart courage to carry on. What is it that has us running so blind into the flames of romance? If there is some good advice of those about to enter this game of hearts, which can be one of the most dangerous of all games, emotionally and psychologically, is that you should "Take Care." Speed may get there faster, but if you want to get there and stay there, or have a stronger and more "longevitous" relationship, slowly and surely(carefully) is the way to go. SoIfIHadToChoose7SongsTheyWOuldBe: Zebra, Silver Soul, Norway, Walk In The Park, Used to Be, 10 Mile Stereo, Take Care.

Neil Young "Fork In The Road"

An album inspired by Young's re-vamped Lincoln Continental and an album that was overlooked, but is pretty good for what it is. "When Worlds Collide" is a great start, but I think "Fuel Line" which is explicitly dedicated to his car is where the inspiration filled his think-tank, and sings: "The world is ready for a whole new game/Some old-timers wanna stay the same/They like to advertise how clean and green they are (Keep filling that fuel line) (Keep filling that old fuel line)(Keep filling that fuel line) (Keep filling that old fuel line)/But she don't listen to what they say/She burned the mess they clean instead/She don't use much though, that's smart for a car." "Just Singing a Song" cannot change the world is a true statement, as he sings about people trying to do just that by singing a song, when really there is much more to be done before the world can change. "Johnny Magic" is about a guy who  has a good connection to all things metallic and automobiles; another good song. "Cough Up The Bucks" is a song with a rap-style like delivery and refrain of "cough up the bucks" and asking where did all the money go, is the line outta gas?green? Not much in the lyric department, and neither is the next one, but stop dillydallying and  "Get Behind the Wheel" which is another good rocker to listen to before you get "Off The Road" which is a slow song with some nice backing group vocals, and has its strong sentiments and emotion. OK, that's enough of sentimental lonely feeling, Let's "Hit The Road" which is another great rocker to listen to, and a good driving song to listen to. A little twang never hurt any one, and neither did introspection, but attempting to "Light a Candle" at first try can hurt. The final song "Fork In The Road" leaves on a good or bad note depending on which side you choose. Check out the lyrics to this one; alot of commentary. IfIHadToChoose7SongsIWouldChoose: Fuel Line, Johnny Magic, Cough Up The Bucks,Get Behind the Wheel, Hit The Road, Light A Candle and Fork in the Road.

Skillet "Awake"

This record starts with awesome one two punch of "Hero" and "Monster." One of which is how he needs a hero to save him just in time with a great intro and instrumentals throughout (and the great interplay between husband, John, and wife, Korey Cooper) before he turns into a "Monster." It basocally speaks of his anxiety and that there is another side to him: "My secret side I keep hid under lock and key/I keep it caged but I can't control it/'Cause if I let him out he'll tear me up, break me down/Why won't somebody come and save me from this, make it end?/I feel it deep within, it's just beneath the skin/I must confess that I feel like a monster/I hate what I've become, the nightmare's just begun." The next song,"Don't Wake Me" is okay, but the next track is one of the best songs on this record, almost like this album's "Whispers in the Dark."  The vocal interplay is great, the instrumentals are great, and it almost makes you feel "Awake and Alive." Next track is a song about not putting off something tommorrow that can be done today because it could be "One Day Too Late". So no one is reading this blog, I'm sorry I must say this, but "It's Not me, It's You" which has Cooper talking about a toxic relationship where the blame is always put on him and the offender always tries to set him up to fail, kinda cheeky and different for them. Hope you read this now or you may think you "Should've When You Could've" after I'm famous; I'm just kidding, that will never happen (being famous or you wishing you have read this or gotten to know me). Basically it has a similiar message to that of "One Day Too Late."  If you "Believe" when I said I was wrong..then maybe you can listen to this song. "Forgiven" is a sentimental song that how someone can forgive someone  for their mistakes. "Sometimes" it's hard to have one song that does not sound like another on the same album, and this one sounds kind of like "It's Not Me, It's You," but the lyrics talk about how sometimes one does not want to change for someone else, even if they will change for the better. He mentions how sometimes he doesn't try to make (Korey) happy or does not want to be put back together, and how it would be hard to believe to find someone as mad and p*ssed as him ; broadcasting his flaws to the world? Great solo and lyrics are nice (earnest and heartfelt) and it has this nice ending."Never Surrender" is an inspirational tune telling you to keep on trying and to never give up. "Lucy" is a song about someone real or...He answered this question but did not answer it fully or iIforgot, but it is a nice song too. "Would It Matter" is another great song, and Bonuus! it is one, but it should have been on the record. It is existential, wondering if it mattered if he tried one more time or if he died the next day if he would be missed by anybody, and one that hits home with me for reasons only I need to know. Last bonus track is basically "Monster" with a different title, no really. IfIHadToChoose,Only,7TracksTheyWouldBe: Hero, Monster, Awake and Alive, Forgiven, It's Not Me, It's You, Sometimes, Would It Matter? P.S. I know..."Why didn't you just pick one of those if they sounded the same?" Meanings are different and so is their effect.

Clipse "Til The Casket Drops"

This album is pretty good, I have not listened to any of their other records, but after this I would say that I would try. "Freedom" has this great intro, and  "Popular Demand(Popeye's)" is a great follow-up when eating chicken and fries;a nice piano loop and I love this line:"I knew your moms well, tell your mother hi/I’m the other guy that got your mother high/Up like a caterpillar, I make butter fly." Love the surf guitar and drumbeat in this song, and besides the great verses Kanye makes an appearance which is "Kinda Like A Big Deal." Feel like showing out and warming up your swag? Listen to "Showing Out" which features Yo Gotti, with a great beat and low volume delivery playin it cool. What, Pharrell ? No thanks,"I'm Good," but if you're on the song what the heck, sure. He also said the line of eatin' chicken and fires at popeyes on track two. "There was A Murder," on the last track, but I think that the "Door Man" did it to steal the horns in his namesake thinking it was crack. "Never Will It Stop," this feeling I get that "All Eyes On Me" that features Keri Hilson, and has this nice beat and loop in the background. "Counseling" is another one of my favorites, I think it's about an obsession with women? not sure, but the vocals of the hook by Nicole Hurst, and the awesome background music make for an awesome song. "Champion" says livin life is about hangin in with your kids watchin' Madagascar. A great song that says champions and living life are more than just those that care about themselves, but care about others too. "Footsteps" is all it takes to make a "Life Change"; yeah, right! If it was that easy almost anyone would do that and try to make their life better, but the songs flow really well together and the album ends on a positive note with the latter track. In "Footsteps:" I could've been a corner, but I had to save my SOOOOOUUUULLLL(save my soul)/I'm out there chasing my dreams lookin for a place to GOOOOOOOO(place to go)/Tryin to get up out the ghetto come follow with my footsteps/Put down the heavy metal then follow with my footsteps/Cause if ya don't it might be daaaaaanger. While Life change goes from introspective" I was wretched, pitiful, poor, blind, and naked/So much so I had left my family forsaken/A troubled soul whose heart was often achin/So much dough but my spirit ever so vacant/Foul and fragrant I was taken off course/The road ahead should have ended me in divorce" to redemptive: Money hoes and clothes is malices past tense/All said forgiven, all you do is askin/Even when laughin I can't explain the hurt/Knowin I can't change the world in a verse."  IfIHadToChoose7SongsTheyWould Be : Freedom, Popular Demand (Popeye's), Kinda Like A Big Deal, Door Man, Never Will It Stop,  Counseling, Foot Steps/Life Change (can't decide between these two as the last selection).

King Midas Sound "Waiting For You"

Listening to this record gives you time and space to think. It doesn't require that much attention to listen to it, or enjoy it. "Cool out" is spacey and has this muted hip hop beat and his this feeling of desperation and fear. "Earth a Killya" has the vocal delivery in talking mode, with the same refrain of the earth tries to kill you if you try to hurt it or body will heal you if you discipline it, for most of the song, but then it goes to a story of his grandmother dreams which would tell her what to eat and they would feel better. I will not be forced to review every song if I don't feel I should, and to be honest it kind of feels like one big long song. The one-two punch of "Meltdown" and "I Man" with their great beats n shizz. "Goodbye Girl" has a nice intro and takes the view "Lost" is even better with its one two step beat and atmospheric intro and great instrumentals throughout. "Sumtimes" is a speaking  aside, that mentions his lover "Miles and Miles" finishes it off, with its quick muted beat but sparse atmospheric bloops. Seven Songs I would have to choose: Cool Out, Waiting For You, One Ting, Earth a Killya, Meltdown, Goodbye Girl, and Lost.

Robyn "Body Talk Pt. 3"

It starts off with the original version of "Indestructible" which replaces the strings with keys. Ever wanted to use a "Time Machine" to fix old mistakes or change what you would have said or done in a certain situation? Well, so does Robyn as she yearns for the chance to take it back. "Call Your Girlfriend" has Robyn telling her new lover to call his girlfriend, tell her not to get upset, and that it's not her fault. Well, good luck with that; we know how those situations work out! It's time to "Get Myself Together" with these spacey keys and techno-beat.The final song has us as "Stars 4-Ever" which has this nice keyboard loop and positive sentiment, in spite of the repetitive lyrics "I can be there right next to you/No matter where in the world you are/I got you right here next to me/Forever connected through the stars." Since there are only five tracks on this EP, I will say that the feature is void, but the songs I remembered most were "Indestructible" and "Get Myself Together," ok, maybe "Time Machine" too.

Robyn "Body Talk Pt.2"

Robyn starts to cause "In My Eyes" this percussive beat and atmospherics. "Include me Out" sounds like a hip-pop dance techno bloop, with a little rap-sing break before she gets to the final chorus verse. The "electric" version of "Hang With Me," is nice to listen to and has this recurring key loop and steady beat as she sings "If you're real, and not pretend/ Then I guess we can be friends/When my patience wearing thin/when I'm ready to give in/Wil You pick me up again/Then I guess you can hang with me." You, as well as I  know that "Love Kills," whether directly or indirectly, or can be an unforgiving emotion leading someone to idiotic decisions that are made through rage or blindness instead of clear thinking. "We Dance To The Beat" and not the repetitive lyrics, but in dance music who listens to the words, it's the beat that rules the roost and the other instrumentals that cause us to dance. With "Criminal Intent," it has these siren sfx and distortion often leading to bad karma in the end.Snoop Dogg? "U Should Know Better" than to smoke kush right in front of the cops., and "..to F*** with me." This song has nice keys with vocal interplay between Robyn and Snoop Doggy Dogg. The acoustic version of "Indestructible" has nice strings, and is a nice way to end the record. IfIHadToChoose4SongsIWouldChoose: Include Me Out, Hang With Me, Criminal Intent,  and U Should Know.

Robyn "Body Talk Pt.1"

"Don't F*cking Tell Me What To Do" is about her asserting her independence and the ability to make her own choices, as it mentions some of the stuff that is killing her(drinking, smoking, diet, heels, shotgun, ego, etc). As a whole, the lyrics just mention things that can be a pain, but the song "Fembot" features the story of a female robot who says "Guess what, I have news for you/ even fembots have feelings too." Single "Dancing on My Own" is also a great song."Cry When You Get Older" is more somber, but still allows room on the dance floor, because it says love hurts if you do it right, and you can cry when you get older. "Dancehall Queen" has this great dancehall (really? you're going to mention that?) and reggae like vibe and beat. "None of Dem" is another good song to listen to one of the best lyrics in this song is that "None of these beats are raw/ None of these beats ever break the law." There is an acoustic version of "Hang With Me" on this part, but the electric version is on part two I believe; it is a nice addition to this EP. "Jag Vet en Deljig Rosa" is a nice way to end the EP. Overall the best songs are: Don't F8cking Tell Me What To Do, Fembot, Dancing on My Own, Dancehall Queen, None of Dem, Jag Vet en Dejlig Rosa.

Wild Light "Adult Nights"

We start with "California on My Mind" which has a nice beat, and great harmonica, and vocals which sound like those of Jim Adkins from Jimmy Eat World! The song is hummable and has a great melody. Anybody up for a trip to "New Hampshire"? With some nice instrumentals and beat like this, why not? I think he also sounds like Gordon Downie from the Tragically Hip, I was like, I know he sounds like someone else too! "Canyon City" has a nice beat and keys that could work for a nice driving at night song. I think there is moog at around 1:30...NICE! Not sure though, I am pretty ignorant...this is nice too. "Surf Generation"  gives off a  chilled surf vibe. The next song starts with piano, and a nice bass line; nother song to bob your head to. You know, it sort of makes you want to "Call Home," maybe. Nice guitar and strings, horns in this one, but the bass and the beat are the focus. However, all the other touches only make it better. Seems like too much is in this song, yet it doesn't feel too crowded. "Heart Attack" has great instrumentals and nice vocals, this one sort of reminds me of KOL's "Knocked Up", it has that southern fried bass, which then changes a little at the last thirty seconds. "Future Towns" is also nice on the keys and drums ,with a bassline lightly in the back of that piano, but what about "The Party?" OH MY G_D, sorry cannot do it. It has sleigh bells in the background? Visions of reindeer flying overhead as the snow falls and two lovers smile at one another, destined to be together, but not in the know at the time. The dual vocals really help this song, and the beat is a dancing beat I love the bells in this one because it makes me think of some light snow falling. The vocals sound really nice at the last minute, in fact the whole song just ends really awesome at the last minute, with a nice audience clapping at the end  (very light, but any louder and it would probably sound cheesier than it does already; which is not too bad). "My Father Was A Horse" starts with a driving beat and slowsdown, then speeds up a bit as they prepare to jump over that fence. Ok, we made it! A minute and a half they prepare to jump again. Now at times he sounds like both aforementioned vocalists, and others he sounds like himself. I may even think he sounds like another vocalist too. The chorus is the best part of the lyrics: "Now you're running like a deer being hunted /By a boy holding guns in the air/But you don't care!/You're not scared!/You're not there!/I guess you took the easy way out/Now I'm headed home." which at first they started respectful, but with these he is refferred to as basically giving up as it becomes too hard to try anymore. "Lawless River" starts with some nice toy piano. Then gives us and a nice beat and synth, with introspective lyrics  "when I'm in the dark, don't follow me around," or maybe not. The two short instrumentals that follow are "New Year's Eve," and "(Surfer's Reprise)" which come to a total of 1:37, but were not just thrown in there with no thought, they both are nice musical additions to this record.  "Red House" is a nice song to end a record such as this with a nice driving beat, lovely vocals, and nice synth. I think it's time to just stop, but before we go we must mention the Best Songs: California on My Mind, New Hampshire, Canyon City,Call Home, Heart Attack, Future Towns,The Party (Oh My G_D), My Father was A Horse, New Year's Eve, (Surfer's Reprise).
