Emmure "Speaker of the Dead"
I guess it's best not to f*** with the "Children of Cybertron." There is a slight rap swag delivery for a few seconds, and then the verse transforms back to that trademark death metal gut-bellow. This techno-screamer must be an alien that escaped from “Area 64-66” recalling a childhood memory seeing a being from the great beyond and “I don't deserve to be left for dead and forgotten/Tell me are you listening?/I am one of you.” There is a slight talking spot amidst all of the vocal cacophony and fury before the “Dogs Get Put Down.” We all face our own demons, and this not only strikes a chord with me because this song is written documenting that struggle, but also sounds the most distinctive from the tracks that came before it; whether you face “Demons With Ryu,” or someone else. “Solar Flare Homicide” reminds me of the Sick Puppies when it comes to vocals that aren’t screamed you’re going down. “Eulogy of Giants” the song is one of the shortest, and even though it sounds like they are just phoning it in to the untrained ear, they show more fire in this song than others that appear to have more fury because they are full of more screaming. The “Bohemian Grove” sounds a little more distinctive with a taste of a bittersweet riff that has a Deftones twist. “I have no interest to please or appease you/I'm done wasting my f****** life/On f****** cowards wasting my f****** time” That may be a little harsh, and this song doesn’t seem as much of a waste of time because of it’s Death Metal-bellows with a rapcore delivery and an interesting percussion break. I probably will watch out for those “4 Poisons 3 Words” a little more carefully next time. I can tell you the “Last Words to Rose,” but I will not spoil the ending because there aren’t too many surprises here. “When all hope is gone you'll hear my voice” can be said by the one most prefer not to mention, but instead of the struggle it seems that he has embraced “Another Voice From Below.” He says “My Name is Thanos,” but not only proclaims himself God, but exclaims he who stares into those eyes will be just the same; instead of turning to stone, if it was Medusa that he locked pupes with, so you become a God? Is that a complex, or just too complicated? cocky much? The next song celebrates forced sexual dealer deviance to please someone’s “Drug Dealer Friend.” I mean “Look into my f****** eyes” and tell me you disagree. It doesn’t surprise me that the end is near in this next song, and I am waiting for it, but what is scary is that when the morning star starts to fall there is no one we can call. The “Word of Intulo” is clear, and it’s something you don’t wanna hear, but "Intulo has spoken before you. Now all earthly creation, including men will die." My Picks: Children of Cybertron, Area 64-66, Demons With Ryu, Solar Flare Homicide, Eulogy of Giants, Bohemian Grove and 4 Poisons 3 Words.
