After floating in the last cycle of theirs this whirlpool shoots them out, fast; at the Speed of Darkness actually. I'm not sure how fast that may be, but the first songs lyrics can be dark ("It's something of a pity
But you'll never understand/How a boy can grow and/Still never be a man") and TRUE, or just dark with demons fracturing souls who are now lifeless ghosts. A song that many can sympathize and relate to considering the state of the job market and the umemployment rate, some have even started a "Revolution" with their own Occupy (indigenous area). This anthemic track is a nice blend of Celtic and So-Cal with horn inclusions, violins, and a lot of attitude. The rhythmic section seems to follow the beat of the "Heart of The Sea" that has taught me something; besides the fact that they can make some really ear-catching arrangements regarding the sea, but also "Don't fornicate/With the one you love to hate/You'll wind up dead before she vows." I'll remember that. I understand why the lyrics are so pessimistic on track five, did you hear? "The Power's Out." Not when it comes to writing a song that is biting, drenched in sorrows and whiskey, but still with a brash attitude straight outta Ireland, or Detroit. "So Sail On" in this reprieve for those who seem to be losing hope and need under three minutes of solace and quiet introspection before they continue to do so. "Saints and Sinners" can both dance, mosh, air banjo, and bob their heads to the rhythm of this song, but I'm guessing only one group will be more likely to do so. In this "This Present State of Grace" I have seen many robbed blind of their positivity and their will to live; by trying to survive in the battlefields, or just the streets. I have been close to being robbed of my positivity as well. I wear no rose-colored glasses, but I try to spread as much positivity as I can. The song almost sounds as if it had come from Broadway; in this predominately piano number, the lone light shines on Dave King as he sings to someone no one can see if they don't believe. Then after 3:41 the whole stage lights up with the rest of the band, as if the laughter had shed the darkness far behind, as they still belong in "The Cradle of Humankind." We now return to our fast-paced feature presentation: "Oliver Boy (All of Our Boys)" which tells the same old story, one of death and blood without glory, which gives one last blast before it fades into the final chorus, so sorry. This beautiful duet is perfect if you prefer not to "Say A Prayer for Me In Silence." You can just play this song instead. After starting out without a shed of light to guide the way, but it seems that they were able to "Rise Up" and dig out the cancer of futility, but now the next is much worse, its of human greed. My favorites: Speed of Darkness, Revolution, Heart of the Sea, The Cradle of Humankind, and Say a Prayer For Me In Silence.
