The Soundtrack starts with the treme song, and that is a good start. If You Like your horns punchy with funk to spare accompanied by a prominent beat and catchy chorus and positive jives, then why wouldn't you "Feel like Funkin' It Up? " "I Hope You Come Back To New Orleans" to hear some great music, and hera those vocals that sound like the late and great Louis Armstrong. Want to hear some nice Trumpet? Accompanied by jivin' piano, bass, a beat that makes this for a floating rythym. "Ooh Poo Pah Doo" is a great singalong fun song to listen to; very brass if you ask me, and a great way to introduce insomniacs to this land of dreams. The Soul Rebels Brass Band urge you to "Drinka Little Poison (4 U Die)." I mean, you only live once, right? Just think how a hangover feels after drinking poison; it's bad enough after drinking something edible, but after poison? It almost feels like you're going to die, right? " The Free Agent's Brass Band tell you "We Made It Through The Water" as they blend hip-hop and jazz in this song of overcoming adversity and what is thrown at them on Mother Nature's terms."Shame Shame Shame" has wonderful voiceovers, and great instrumentals, in the song; I'm guessing from the show (Which I have not seen, but should) DR. John is looking at "My Indian Red," and of all places she is "At The Foot of Canal Street." A slow, soulful, horn drivin' number that picks up about midway and has a plethora of horn solos with that piano serving as a backbone. "Bueno Sera" by Louis Prima is a nice break from all the brassness of those horns hogging all the attention; there is a nice balance in this song. "I Don't Stand A Ghost Of A Chance" against all of the writers in this world who write hundreds of times better than I, or a chance to measure up to any of the girls in the majors. It is a nice short and sweet song with a nice balance of piano and violin. "Indian Red" has some nice saxo-monologue, but then creeps the bass at around 1:39 and the drums and piano follow. We can only hope that time ceases to fly as fast as it does, but it probably will not. if only "Time Is On My Side," then I would be able to get more done in a day. It is another soulful jazz track, and a great one at that. "This City" proclaims it will never die,the heart and soul of New Orlawns cannot be destroyed! "Just A Closer Walk With Thee" is more laidback instrumental with percussion taking a back seat and "My Dawlin' New Orleans" is a great way to finish the soundtrack! I was not able to catch all the tracks. could not find them. As for choosing songs they are all good, and sick of picking favorites is getting to me.So this disc I say hear it all, and watch the show. Maybe I'll Follow my own advice. G'Night Folks! :{D
