J Roddy Walston & The Business "S/T"

He seems like he is just having a lot of fun on this record rocking out; urging you to have your fix,but "Don't Break The Needle" which is a great song to listen to."Full Growing Man" has the piano take the limelight with this nice choir-filled chorus and times where he'ssinging onthecuff and hetriesandtries to puff, but justcan'tstop the positive vi-i-i-ibes vi-i-i-ibes. There are pearls before swine and there are "Pigs and Pearls" with this singalong chorus and these lyrics addressing another side of him who tried to take his body, and ruin his life by making others believe he cannot be trusted, but "Human friend they’re just hard to find. And with my mouth I’ll shut your mouth. Those awful words won’t come about. Yeah you’re….. just a pig I fed with pearls." "Brave Men's Death" has him wishing he dies during an act of valor instead of during his sleep, but did not start thinking of it till "...the Lord came down and put a spoon in my mouth. It tasted so bitter, but I couldn’t spit it out. It tasted like the money that my poor mama made. When I went and stole it, cause she took it to the grave. And there was a note clenched in her right hand, Said boy if you wanna live, better die like a brave man." It has this nice groove that has you singing alone is a quick-paced blues-rock thumper that has Walston urging others to "Don't Get Old," as he channels a little Steve Tyler in his vocals. I stink as a music critic? "I Don't Wanna Hear It." Actually, I don't mind as long as the criticism is constructive, but haters feel free to spew venom."I killed my critics, received my sickness, And I took the meat but I hid the bones. And I’m just to scared to keep living alone. But you said you paid to be a soul that was saved, so Girl you got no reason to fear it." Well, those lyrics are gruesome, and directed to those that hate just to do so, but as it is how he feels he can say that. It has this nice blues riff, and another singalong chorus; these are songs on a mission to prove that music can be fun to listen to. "Uh Oh Rock & Roll" Walston sounds mad, screaming that he's waiting for this women he can't get out of his head "Met a woman, it was all right. Uh huh Met a woman it was all right Met a woman it was all right. Uh huh Woman put the meat on my bones well uh huh." Is he talking about "Caroline?" which apparently had a rich father that had plenty of old money and a mouth that spewed only trash, but someone so annoying he paid more than just bones, but death. As he went to see "...caroline pearl/she was soft and sweet. She was made of salt and that weren’t her fault. And her hands were soft like slavery." Use Your Language," but watch you mouth; it likes to play in the trash and mud when no one is watching. So, this nice twangy riff and beat just makes me want to use my feet to move and head to bob, I don't really feel like talkin'. If I had to get Down to Business and Choose 7 Songs I Would Choose: Don't Break The Needle, Full Growing Man, Pigs and Pearls, Brave Man's Death, Don't Get Old, Uh Oh Rock and Roll, and Caroline.
