Panda Bear "Tomboy"

"You Can Count On Me" to be idiosyncratic, honest, ignorant, odd, eye-rolling, and anything else you wanna add to the list. Just like you can always count on Panda Bear and the rest of Animal Collective to create music that is anything but boring, and the first song is no exception.  It sounds like a tournament for many a "Tomboy" is about to begin with those hornlikes and the distorted synth. The slow trodding percussion works really well with the echo-endowed vocals and the synth from space. The next song starts with sayings we all have heard before, vocal distortion, reverb-heavy rhythm and vocals, and sounds like it may have sampled a great song from the eighties that I cannot remember the name of. You would think that this next song would be in "Slow Motion" because it is a "Surfer's Hymn." It starts slow after those crashing waves, but once the surfer rides the chorus the rhythm seems to race as fast as the heart as the surfer that rides it; after the wave the summer haze kicks in, until the next wave returns the focus to survive. I guess it is best to go out with a bang when it is the "Last Night At The Jetty" but since "I don't want to describe something that I'm not" I won't. The next song just seems to "Drone" on, it almost seems longer than it really is, but that's not a bad thing; it is minimalistic and relies on that reverb and organ. The next song seems to be more focused on harmonies and melodies, has a beat that has hands clapping, and seems to go faster than the previous on the "Alsatian Darn."  If I was given an audio "Friendship Bracelet," I guess it wouldn't be a bad thing if I was given one like this. It has some effects,  and the invulnerability because there a friend's ring by its side. Just what is cooing? is that a baby alien underwater? The tribal drums start it off, but once it starts going it doesn't stop. Maybe it puts the lyrics on the "Afterburner," but that is what he has been doing all along; keeping it simple, with focus, and making the music memorable. "Benfica" says more in one paragraph than  other songs with two more, and that is not a jab at him You Can Count On Me, Slow Motion, Surfer's Hymn, Alsatian Darn, and Friendship Bracelet
