New Found Glory "Radiosurgery"
Like the whole style of punk became bas------- and music some call "punk" currently is being criticized by those that grew up with the original unadulterated style, now face that dilemma with punk-pop as touches of other styles and the inclusion of more instruments than an orchestra, or instrumental director,y confuse what is real "Punk-pop!" "You're joking right?" Yes, I am, and this dilemma is not to be taken as serious as the dispute of what real punk is. I'll tell you that this cannot be classified as "real" punk, but it can be classified as "real" pop-punk. Like Pundik will need "Radiosurgery" to get this girl's face out of his head, I will probably need it to get this song out of my head: I know why this was the title track, lead track, and first single as it brings the band back to basics in a no frills pop-punk delivery, and this song is perfection. This may be one of the catchiest songs bout a lobotomy yet, but I usually don't listen to songs concerning lobotomies. Driving drums causing a short whirlwind to make an "Anthem For The Unwanted," to be placed in a heavily circulated playlist? Loooke here! Another song concerning lobotomies and relationships "Drill It In My Brain" because this hand clap led percussion and catchy hook recall music from a different era, updated! "I'm Not The One" is about a mutual understanding in regards to incompatibility; which is a nice change because usually those are rare. Starts with something out of documentary on the exploits of hormone raging young adults that leads into more driving drums and more saccharin that may just cause eardrum decay..I said it. "Ready, Aim, Fire!" Duck! Well.. I guess they can't all be sure shots, but I do like the bass that you can hear at times, and the song's lyrics are on point with that dilemma that most guys deal with. Should I stay or should I go? and forget that who doesn't know (what she wants). No one ever wants to be "Dumped," and this song may be a fine anthem to soothe the beast that is rejection, which may have him swimming in denial, but I'm not sure. She will regret her decision, but the decision to record harmonies in a style that recall those who love Bowling For Soup should not be one of theirs. "Summer Fling, Don't Mean a Thing" because these are missteps in finding the one perfect for you; it is about that girl who needs a boy around her all the time, and will lie to get what she wants because she can't live without a BF.Good advice is if you're "Caught In The Act"make sure you make it worth it, but the best advice is to avoid cheating altogether. Two wrongs don't make a right, but adding Bethany Constantino does? I guess these "Memories and Battle Scars" had left them with a song that has a repetitive chorus of wanting to kiss someone so hard they're lips bleed in a more uptempo, quicker paced song; that focuses more on instrumentals than the lyrics, but most of us have felt that way at some point, so it's not like the lyrics are not relatable. This next song is not my favorite, but it's definitely not a "Trainwreck." The "Map of Your Body" is a very pleasurable one for the ears and sort of has a punky instrumental Unchained Melody in the breakdown (not boistrous though..but segues nice into the recharged rest of the track). When I saw "Separate Beds" I almost thought I heard some American Idiot talking shizz saying that the lyrics are repetitive and there is nothing good lyrically, but then I saw these lines: "Nothing good comes from telling the truth/So it's obvious why we lie in separate beds." I thought that's not exactly true, and the instrumentals, including the finish, are top notch . This is probably one bonus track that I will listen to over and "Over Again," because the instrumentals a pop-punk perfection, and this song and the succeeding one may cure my "Sadness". The latter is a quicker paced song which covers a subject that some of us know all too well, and has those argsome harmonies. They finish the deluxe version with another cover of The Ramones' "Blitzkrieg Bop" which is a nice nod to these guys and is pretty straightforward. I guess this is a popular song to cover because it captures the energy that they have? If I had to perform Radiosurgery on some of these songs i would choose: Ready! Aim! Fire! and Trainwreck. The rest of the songs were quite engaging, even though I had my favorites out of the rest, I would not change anything about the rest of the tracks. However, I would switch the two afore-mentioned tracks with the first two bonus tracks, because they seemed like they should have been in the album, and those two on the record can be bonuses.
