Rodrigo Y Gabriela "11:11"

Ok, this duo can play guitar, and strum on an acoustic with a metallic attitiude with all kinds of changes in tempo and stuff. "Hanuman" definitely has a flamenco style, and this galloping beat, that starts to trot, and the guitar just makes you want to dance. The next song has this galloping beat and starts a little slower, but is a real cool riff, then the pace gradually gets faster, and back to galloping, now freeze and hold for some disco beat at 2:41, and some more funky hot doggin made for a dance show. "Triveni" is fast again, but is nice, I just like the change of pace in the song that has its own "Logos." The trip to "Santo Domingo " is also nice with it percussive timpani and other hand drums and latin-funk flare, But I am more excited to meet "Master Magui" than to see the sights. The driving beat, and the killer guitar work let us learn from a master as  "Savitri" goes into this muddling/dizzying riff  around 1:45, and has this sfx of a door opening, before that it has this anxious riff, and , really, "Savitri" is not bad. "Hora Zero" is another nice change of pace that goes into a disco mood around 1:50 and slows down into this ominous string passage,or it sounds like it, and now some more noodling. "Chac Mool" was a short but sweet aside. "Atman" has a nice metallic flavor as well as a great solo played, and great sailing rythym section. It's "11:11," do you know where your children are? probably trying to learn this song which has some nice piano at the end, and the guitarwork is really nice focues more on the sound than just playing real fast. One cannot deny that they have talent, but if they just play fast all the time it's going to become stagnant, so while I was impressed with their playing, the songs that were best were not the ones where they played fastest. If I had to choose the most distinctive in this record they would include: Hanuman, Logos, Master Magui, Hora Zero, and 11:11.
