Ringo Starr "Ringo 2012"
Sounds of the new record is afoot, and considering the last record I thought…Y Not give it a try? It may even be better than the previous record. What do I have to lose? Just a little under thirty minutes, but there really is no losing here. He kicks it off with a catchy five minute “Anthem” that may please lovers of the cowbell who are in the mood for some good ‘ol classic rock created by Ringo 2012 edition. The funky-reggae of the following track is full of what-ifs and horns, rhodes, steel drums, and “Wings,” but “Your love never gave me no warning/Like a bird I was shot down in flight/Don't you know I love you?” sad to see such a sight. I don’t know what you think of track three, but there isn’t much time to “Think it Over” because it may be over before you’ve come to your opinion. A little “Samba” never hurt anyone, and neither did the final seconds of strings, but “It's a rock 'n tumble, never give up.” I heard there was some reconstruction coming up, but I didn’t know it was on the “Rock Island Line.” This sounds like it could have been written by a fellow beatle. The next song airs a line of caution to "Step Lightly," especially when it comes to walking on the tightrope of love. The first verse seems to be the most helpful and direct; it ultimately says “haste makes waste,” so it is better finding love that will last, than a one night stand. The first few lines are “Wonderful” when it comes to advice; ok, it’s just an exaggeration because it’s more of a statement that Starr makes. Isn’t this line cute? “And we made it through, the way we always do/Cause for me and you/The worst that ever was was wonderful.” I used to have it clear in my mind what I wanted to do for the longest time, but not while "In Liverpool." This reminiscence not only brings back old memories, but prepares for new ones as this may be one of your new favorite songs by Mr. Starr because it is one of mine. How long until this album is over? “Slow Down” you have less than three minutes, and don’t skip this track if you are a fan of the Eagles. Overall, this record was better than expected, and it has many good songs, but if I had to name my favorites : Anthem, Wings, Rock Island Line, Step Lightly, In Liverpool, and Slow Down.
