Tinny, slight off kilter percussion try to align themselves with strings and piano "across a boundless sea prison shores ebb." Alone, as his vocals slightly waver to the realization that "Extraordinary Fades." I'm trying to place whose voice he sounds similiar to, but I cannot place it; I do like the tone in his voice. Only the good die young, and nice guys finish last; I don't believe that is truly "How It Goes," because the world would have been a darker place by now.
It is amazing that some people discover and harness their talents at any age, and just seem to cause some people's self-confidence to crumble because that person feels better than they are. It causes one to question "why bother?" I ask myself all the time. You can make a change however old you are; it doesn't mean that past a certain age you can't make a difference. even if you connect with one person, you might influence that person who will do great things someday because they had a mentor that truly cared, and gave them the strength to change. "Baby you know I bruise, but being polite never got me nowhere," but I'm not gonna be an a--hole from now on. For the first couple minutes of the song I felt the "Shallows Low," but past the three minute mark the sound drops off and becomes richer and more layered. Where do I go next on this boat as I sail off the shore for I have no compass. Mildred gives me some advice, but I say "What If I Can't See The Stars, Mildred?" She looks at me like I'm crazy and "If I look crazy/Wonder what the f**** with everyone else" I shout. The energy, the attitude, and the instrumentation in this next song sort of surprise me because as this is the first record I had heard from him I didn't expect a song like that; Collective Soul comes to mind when it comes to the part where you "...walk out the door." The swing and style of this big-band influenced next track with that stunning horn-section and every other instrument of this "Zero Orchestra" will keep the customers happy, as well as me.I did think of Michael Buble when the first few notes started, but I really like how Good's vocals mesh with the arrangement. So again I was thrown for a loop, how did they sneak a whole orchestra on this boat without me knowing? The next song is for the "Non-Populous," one that may be a little too long, but like the rest of this record should get more airplay. The riff around 2:30 reminded me of that specific time when angels and serpents dance. Yeah, it was a good time, but It's not a very good idea to be around the area when they do; it's just not safe. How those low in self-esteem give in to murderous rage "In A Place of Lesser Men" This next track is a song that is said to be the antithesis to something that would be single-worthy, and able to earn many downloads because of its commercial appeal. "While I rock the boat," and this criminal steals what ever is worth any cash, I scream "Set Me On Fire." It is an appropriate and somber number to score what is destined to be the demise. This boat will surely sink, and everyone runs to the lifeboats as I stay with the ship I have set sail on. I am not a captain, but as the ship is set to fire and everyone else escapes (thank God) I stay with this schooner embraced in embers setting the "Lights of The Endangered Species." I chase the arsonist, but he evaporates into thin air as a shadow does in darkness. There is a brass sheen amidst the piano, and a wave of apathy when it comes to pain is addressed. "Got my guns in a row
I got my boys to the shore
Not all but we'll stay here all day long
And get beat to s*** for you"
