Foxy Shazam "The Church of Rock and Roll"
Rock has sinned, and it is now Judgment Day from what I’ve been told. This band will recall sounds from the days of old. A killer Queen with a Kiss of death, and no I’m not talking about Annie Lennox, but she’s good too. If you want penance, give me about thirty-seven minutes. I solemnly swear you won’t regret it , and if you do shame on you because this is where great rock is headed; unless someone else said it. “Welcome to the Church of Rock and Roll,” if you listen to it it’s great for the soul; just listen to the self deprecating lyrics for a laugh or two, and I love that horn assisted groove, that’s good too! This is an ode to the fat bottomed girls, and I like girls of all shapes and sizes; so does Eric Sean Nally as he proclaims “Thats the biggest black a-- I've ever seen” and “I Like It.” What is the “Holy Touch?” Is it the driving drums, that rockin piano, or that literal high note that was accompanied by a short sax interlude. My “Last Chance at Love” seems to be upon me because I can hear the seven trumpets of heaven calling my name as this barrel of a gun prepares to hit me with its best shot. It sounds like Annie Lennox decided to sing a song about the duality of a recording artist. Never say never, and don’t say goodbye, “Forever Together” without wondering why “there's a constant battle raging inside/It's so hard to live these two lives/Hello Dr. Jekyll/Hello Mr. Hyde/We don't understand/Travel's said to broaden the mind, I'm just losing mine.” Be careful because once love gets you in its tender trap…“It’s Too Late Baby.” “I Wanna Be Yours” sounds like it could be on a Jack White project. This girl seems to drive me crazy, like no one else, and all of these “Wasted Feelings” are draining my love for her out of my heart. Why why why why are we crying? I can only think that she drives me crazy.OOH OOOH. Why bother fixing this relationship destined to fall apart? Your body is sacred, and this track is “The Temple.” A song that may appeal to the aural libido, especially with that sultry saxophone, and lite jazz sound that says “you got my heart, now you want my body/Keep my cool, girl you lucky you's a hottie/Ain't no games that I play that you can win/If you want inside my temple I'm gonna have to let you in.” If I ever become famous, and move to a different place, I won’t say better because I love it here; I will not forget you. “The Streets” that were adjacent to where I was born and raised were filled with many memories, good and bad, and that cannot be replaced. The song is over the top, and the lyrics reach the climax at the final verse regarding his hard working mother. We all have “Freedom” of speech, so don’t be mad if I say that I can’t help but think of Sir Elton singing a song as he waves to his brother; because of the clouds in his eyes.
