Miike Snow "Happy To You"
Before you “Enter The Joker’s Lair” I must warn you, if you dare. It may be fun inside of an aural jamboree, but I cannot recall anything other than the damage done to me. “The Wave.” This may be the last night of your life because you didn’t heed the words of Hedley (don’t talk to strangers). The song’s prescence of horns and canoodling synth sound like they are orchestrated by DJ Cupid, but be careful because the “Devil’s Work” can appear to be the antithesis of evil sometimes. Whether it be divine intervention or spiritual MGMT; the falsetto is heard in this psychedelic space, which is odd because there is no sound? Maybe it was just the omnipotence; may “God Help This Divorce.” “Bavarian #1 (Say You Will)” is another song with that soldier’s march percussion and dreamy harmonies approach, but I’m not being a “Pretender” when I recommend the previous as well as the latter; the angle is different, but it sounds like it has some curvy sax! The piano arpeggio that is present on this “Archipelago” sound as if the pounding of the keys are to be used as a pickax to loosen some of the ice. The song keeps on flowing when a break is taken, at a pretty consistent pace no doubt. There is something magical inside of this “Black Tin Box,” but I cannot imagine what. I think of JJ Abrams, M Night Shamalyn, and Peter Frampton for some reason, but I’m sure they all cannot fit inside with everything else that is already present. I must give props to Lykke Li for her appearance on the previous track. Usually as a record comes to a close the nature of the finish gives in to the tendency of "Paddling Out," but this song happens to keep those oars on the counter, and ends with a splash! Favorites: The Waves, Devil’s Work, Vase, Archipelago, and Paddling Out.
