Cobra Starship "Night Shades"

I have ridden the cobra starship for a while, but my interest didn’t pique until I saw them at Warped a few years ago. They’re not perfect, but they have their own identity. I was not expecting a lot from this record either, and I  figured out why; maybe because the last one was a Hot Mess. SO instead of looking through rose colored glasses, I looked through Night Shades; which would be what color?                            The first song wears classic rock pin on its sleeve, along with its heart, and the vocals are close to whispers; in order to hit the higher registers. Even if there were faults I would still be proud to say “You Belong To Me.” The next song, and first single is full of energy and ready soundtrack a late night samba. I could not even tell you how “You Make Me Feel…” There are probably so many others to be featured, but after hearing this song enough times I could not imagine anyone other than Sabi. They continue the rock meant for the dance floor without having you laugh your f****** a** off on this “#1Nite(One Night).”               I wonder how many beautiful girls would even consider dating a "Fool Like Me." I love the sound, but the comical (and slightly tragic) circumstances surrounding the two make the song more enticing. Mac Miller and Cobra Starship have so many haters that their first reactions are to lift the “Middle Finger.” Why bother trying to please haters anyways, especially if they are jealous, because I couldn’t see any other reason why they would hate either artist, or the song they are in. When you feel like all you do is party, and have no future or ambition because you only crave the thrill of the first five drinks and its accompanying giddiness all I have to say is “Don’t Blame The World, It’s The DJ’s Fault.”                                                                        “F*Cked in Love” perfectly describes that situation when someone realizes they had the perfect puzzle piece to complement themselves after letting their ex go, and now they deeply regret it because no one compares. This song feels like it is one of those where you feel that it was added to lengthen the record, and lets you know the album is almost over. Victoria Asher’s distinctive, and slightly whiny vocals, are simultaneously annoying and intriguing. The song is a “Disaster Boy,” but I like it! The next song is a better one to finish the record than the previous, and has a sound that can do one of three things: make Chris Brown jealous; he may shout yeah three times; or Jump into the Gospel once he hears that funky bass. However, once he hears that keyboard solo he might start to produce more endorphins like me and smile like a mofo! I tend to also think of video game music from the eighties. My Favorites include: You Belong To Me, You Make Me Feel So…, Fool Like Me, Middle Finger, F**ked  In Love, and Schwick!
