Sarah Darling "Angels and Demons"

Most people have their own demons, but there are some chosen to host battles between Angels and Devils. Sarah Darling starts off with a lowkey and down-tempo “Thank You” to anyone that has had some connection to her life. I am reminded of Taylor Swift to some extent when I listen to her sing, but I’m not sure if she has written a song like this before. the boyfriend works long days and during those days she spends planning what they could do when he returns. This song may get you in the mood for “Something To Do with Your Hands,” even though the song isn’t explicit; it is absolutely suggestive and playful. The sound downplays the intent a little, cute, but it may still make you blush or laugh; you determine which. The song is about a “Toxic” relationship, and I am not talking about the instrumentals; the steady beat gets along with those plinky piano keys, that guitar, backing vocals and her voice which is just Darling! Yes, I have a “Bad Habit” trying to sound witty and incorporating titles into sentences; which probably irritates readers who may be prone to roll their eyes. The sentiment in the song is universal, because there is always that one person “…the first thing on your mind/What you use to unwind/What you come back to every time.” The title track is probably one of the more up tempo and lively of the cuts off of this record; not that the rest of the record is bad. “If words were a shotgun/ There'd be a hole in my heart/Yeah it's a wicked game/And I know I should've never played.” The guitar has a little edge to it, and the closing instrumental passage ends it well. While we are indirectly on subject Darling covers U2’s “With Or Without You.” It is a beautiful rendition, and she does not change much, but she does not need to because all of the essentials are there; there are some songs that need to be radically changed and others tweeked ever so slightly, and this is one of them. Listening to this song may not “Stop the Bleeding” in just over two and a half minutes, but over time all wounds heal, and listening to this song you know that you aren’t the only one who has dealt with this type of heartache; whether you play piano or not. “Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word,” but I’m saying it; this track seems even more depressing than the previous, but it is hard to tell. “Something to Do with Your Hands (acapella)” is a worthy addition, and gives a slightly different flavor. It would be so much easier “Waiting on You” if I knew you felt the same way. How many people haven’t felt that way? The song itself reminds me of Bryan Adams. My Favorites: Thank You, Something To Do With Your Hands, Toxic, Angels and Demons, Bad Habit, and Waiting on You.
