Twilight:New Moon OST

There have been many critics (movie, as well as music), and people who act like critics, that ask why the movies cannot be as good as the soundtracks? Now I think the movies aren't too bad, but that's just me. Death Cab For Cutie starts the disc off with the song penned exclusively for this OST entitled "Meet Me On The Equinox." What a killer song to start the soundtrack off with. Who needs "Friends?" Band of skulls do because their friends are so beautiful, and cause them to pen this dance-rock distortion track.Thom Yorke fears that "Hearing Damage" may be imminent by listening to so much good music at once with its techno-dance beat and echo ridden vocals. Lykke Li contemplates the "Possibility" that there may be an unfair balance that has her pay much more than her lover in this relationship; who prefers to pay for apathy because it is cheaper (in two different ways) with a sparse arrangement and light atmospherics. "White Demon Love Song" is one contributed by The Killers, which has this nice solo at the end. This song makes reference to what takes place in the movie between Bella and Edward; when he leaves because he thinks it would be best, but doesn't realize that her love is much stronger than her fear, which is minimal, hence the white demon love songs in her dreams (those of Edward) and black invitation which cannot change (turning to a vampire; cannot undo). "Satellite Heart" is another one of lost love with light horns and strings, somber, a yearning for her lover as she is a satellite heart lost in the dark. Muse's "I Belong To You" is a great funk-piano ridden track and sound just as good as off their last record. I do love the sound of Bon Iver's "Rosalyn" with it's acoustic strumming and high vocals with some echo. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club contribute a nice harmonica-injected track in "Done All Wrong" with nice guitar as well; a lighter bluesy track. Do you hear some Hurricane Bells? Do you fear "Monsters?" Why not just skip the song if you do, but they do make a reference to vampires with a dancey-grunge vibe and nice solo. The song reminds me of "All Apologies" and/or "Lithium" for some reason. Sea Wolf wants us to wait for "The Violet Hour" which is punky beat wrapped in an indi-folk."Shooting The Moon" is probably not a good idea, but the dance rock of OK Go are starting to have me consider it with that drum solo, and sparse guitar squeals. "Slow Life" features Victoria Legrand in cahoots with a Grizzly Bear. I probably need several Editors to make what I write more tolerable.  I could have sworn i heard this epic low note piano but all I hear is"No Sound But The Wind." Oh Well.We end this OSTwith a contribution made by Alexandre Desplat's "New Moon [The Meadow];" a nice piano driven track that has one contemplating the power of love. IFICouldOnlyChoose7 TracksIWould ChooseThese: Meet Me On The Equinox, Friends, Rosalyn, Done All Wrong, Monsters, Shooting the Moon, No Sound But The Wind.
