Sunset Rubdown "Dragonslayer"

This is a pretty kick-butt record, and you wouldn't even know it was a "side-project" of Spencer Krug (of Wolf Parade). What would happen if "Silver Moons" came in contact with a werewolf? Would it die? "Tell their fathers that I am on my way," but that this "Idiot Heart" should probably think about what his head tells him before foolishly following his heart. "Apollo and the Buffalo and Anna Anna Anna Oh!" is a nice thinking song, and one to listen to in the background. Not saying it's not enjoyable. This song also really segues in to the Awesome "Black Swan" of the record with distorted guitars and this chorus with a quick driving beat, and more screeching distrortion with good percussion work, and some good children's vocals singing "I'm the king o..ice." Stop with piano for a few seconds and fizzout. "Paper Lace" has us wondering "What's in the hearts of pretty girls?' Wouldn't many of us like to know, but alas: "the things she didn't know she couldn't trust." "You Go Ahead (Trumpet, Trumpet, Toot! II)" is a good song and reminds me of "Dog Days are Over" by Florence and the Machine with its percussion until it's been about a minute where the percussion changes. The next selection is called "Nightingale/December Song" about a man who will learn to play guitar and live a single day as Krug lives a single year; oh what nice piano, and organ? You can almost see the snow falling it is december, so snow is imminent, for some places that are not Nashville. "Dragon's Lair" is epic in length, 10:40; I know that some artists writes songs like that all the time, but it's still pretty long when compared to length of most songs. It is the search for a new castle, I think, but it should be listened to first before making judgements. If I Had Slay Dragons with Seven Songs I Would use these: Idiot Heart, Apollo And Anna Anna Anna Oh!, Black Swan, You Go Ahead(Trumpet, Trumpet,Toot! II), Nightingale/ December Song, and Dragon's Lair.
