Young The Giant "S/T"

This apartment is one crafted of distinct, soulful vocals from Sameer Gadhia, a sturdy rhythm section, while the next song starts grungy and has low tuning that tricks you into thinking it's going to be a song for the p*ssed off before it gets into this poppy riff; it continues until a slowed tempo and dreamy passage that refuse to be a pushover to "My Body." "I Got" another favorite song, and the notion that if you do not believe he has a soulful voice you should check out this awesome song with two- part harmony, floating beats, and a nice solo in this r&B/Soul/rock hybrid. I need some "Cough Syrup!" My voice is so hoarse from all of that coughing and that tickle will not go away, I cannot help laughing because "Life’s too short to even care at all/Ooh, I’m losing my mind losing my mind losing control."
You've heard the story or know of the scopes trial, either "God Made Man" or man evolved from amoeba, but if you think about it and he created amoeba which eventually became man, then both sides are correct; he could have sped up the process to an unfathomable rate.Enough pondering the questions of life let's just ponder how one ends up with "12 Fingers" to only play six "Strings."Oh what did I say?/She's all shook up/Vision by the seaside/We move/But I don't know/When the fire gets hazy/The flames roll down and off her body/Oh you'll stay with me." A slow tempo track that has the drums focusing on those cymbals driving us closer to "Your Side" at a quicker pace with the percussive indie-flavor of the drums, and the start stopping only to be overshadowed by Gadhia's vocals and the guitar of Tilley and Cannata. "Garands" tricks you with the beat in the beginning and has one questioning the war, or just the duty of "Fighting for the greater good/Now tell me why this feels so wrong/Feels so wrong, to hold this gun/Now look what I've become/ Before the day is done/Now that we have won." There are many saints proclaimed and those yet to be, but "St. Walker" must be the patron saint of dance rock; with a slow beginning and a dance ready cymbal crash passage and at lest one more tempo change in there before his day is over. "Islands" is a sailing song with that clunky percussion and mellow guitar. "Get out your guns it's time to start a fight/Whoa, and it won't take too long/I want to make it right," with vocals that are not as prominent as in previous songs, but the instrumentals have all their "Guns Out" on this one, and "Every Little Thing" is taken care of in these two songs to make them right. Favorites: Apartment, My Body, I Got, Strings, Your Side, St. Walker, and Guns Out.
