The Black Angels "Phosphene Dream"

Oooooh, somethings givin' me "Bad Vibrations," a killer song to start a record. "Can you tell a wish from a spell?/A hug from lie?/They both make you feel so gone./We warned you from harm again./You're beating hearts again." SCared? there is a "Haunting at 1300 McKinley," but it has a nice groove, and hook that brings drums with swagger. "Yellow Elevator #2 " reminds me of Ghostbusters by reason of some of the background keys. You'll see what I mean. "Sunday Afternoon" is a quicker rocker, but warns you to keep your guard up for there is a "River Of Blood" with an attack from this Stomping Drum and distortion Reverb Monster. Dive left, no wait, Right! Phew! "Entrance Song" is one of those good driving songs, or one that helps you get pumped up for a party or a night out on the town as you dance a little and lipsync in the mirror in this goofy manner that embarrasses you when you find out your sister was there the whole time. Or maybe it's just me.It helps start your swagger, nice n' easy, but nothing too strong. Not like how some people like to bathe in axe or another type of spray. Title track is next, with this good muted beat behind some atmospheric distortion. "True Believers" has this western swagger with a little touch of the east{part of it beat, and the rest(almost) everything else}, and it slows down as the night passes over the desert. "Telephone" reminds me of "New Dress" by Rancid except the keys and guitar are sharing the lead, instead of bass,  and it adds some distortion and a faux-horn. "The Sniper" comes in slowly but surely, ready for the kill with some big brother references: "we decide what goes inside your head" Creepy, and the rest of the lyrics are a little unsettling, but hey do snipers normally talk about kissing babies, sniffing flowers, and stroking kitties? My Favorite segments of this dream are: Bad Vibrations, Yellow Elevator #2, River of Blood, Entrance Song, True Believers, Telephone, and The Sniper.
