Trey Songz "Chapter V"

I wasn’t even sure if I was going to read Chapter V. I listened to the samples, thought about it, and then decided to check it out a week later. I like the intro, but let’s just “Dive In” to the first song.
What I thought would be just okay, turned out to be an album worth listening to. For the nights I can’t remember I tend to recognize a similarity between these two. Even if he was not inspired by R Kelly, you should be forgiven for thinking that; you can hear it on this song, but it’s more apparent on the next one because instead of believing he can fly he knows he can make your “Panty Wetter.” The notes he hits resemble those in the climax of R Kelly’s timeless hit. Obviously, Chris Brown is not the only one to write lyrics about sex, but there was just too much on his album. Here’s where you almost have a “Heart Attack,” and not because of the climax or the orgasm, but because he’s “In too deep, can't think about giving it up.” I like the bloops though; how intelligent that sounds. Trey starts off this next track with a verse of his own, and confesses he’s done “Playin’ Hard.” He realizes that out of all those women, there is only one who is long gone. The next best thing to do then is go to the club, or bar, and drown his sorrows, or try his luck with another group of women. I like this song for “2 Reasons,” and that is for its honesty, and for T.I.’s verse. I like the ladies as well, but drinks not so much, so I would go for some dancing! Would that be for successfully completing the “Hail Mary?” With Lil’ Wayne, and even Jeezy, there is still enough gas to keep this album running for another touchdown. “Pretty Girl’s Lie” is a tragic commentary on a growing epidemic of broken hearts leading to even more broken hearts (tenfold!), and is one of his most emotional on this track. Listening to this song brings me back to the second-last track on Ne-Yo’s 2008 offering; not because of the sound, but the content, or for some other reason. I do recommend listening to both multiple times. “Bad Decisions” is an even better cut in every aspect; with no disrespect to the previous track. “Inside Interlewd” says it all, and I like the metaphor used in the following track, which comes close, but fails to “Fumble” the ball. TOUCHDOWN! If we were keeping score there would be plenty more. “Without A Woman” is the polar opposite of the majority of C Breezy’s album ( it was good, there was just too much misogynistic B.S.).  This song can be said to be “Simply Amazing,” but then what would the next song be classified as? A heartfelt devotional to his woman filled with unconditional love, while the latter’s instrumentals bring a smile despite the pain of seeing the same, or last girl, “Never Again.” The fact that Meek Mill and Diddy is in the final song just scream “Check Me Out,” and it’s a pretty solid read.
